Lightbulb Will this setup be anygood ?

Hi a fpv noob here, but years of rc flying under my belt. Ive researched for weeks now various fpv setups and im wanting to jump in and go for it. I know people say start simple and i will, but i want to get all the gear at once and build up. The kit im looking at getting is as follows.
    Lawmate 1.2 1000mw transmitter
    2x lawmate recievers
eagletree diversity box with one cp cloverleaf and one patch antenna.
fytek hornet osd and 31ap autopilot.
    fatshark aviator
looking at a turnigy 9x and maybe a long range modual ??

Im looking for recommendations on if i need filters and where, also what modual can i get for the turnigy 9x transmitter to increase range with least amount of soldering ? will a frysky modual give a good range ?

sorry for all the questions but im sure this is all a no brainer for most of you guys here. hoping to find a mentor on here

    Thanks
    martin

first off what are you putting this on? If it is a small plane that 1W transmitter will drown out a lot of your other gear. If you really want to go with 1.2ghz then go to readymaderc and get one of there tuned 1.2 receivers (saw upgrade). It will give you some more channels to fly on and more range. You have no need for diversity really as you will start off most likely on omni and on 1.2ghz that gives you plenty of range for the first few months. On the antenna front you are mixing linear antennas with CP antennas. Not the greatest set up there. Generally you will go either all linear or all CP.

The OSd is now over priced IMO. You can get great RTH with much cheap and still reliable OSD's. RTH is only really needed if you are pushing your systems limits and not needed for general flying.

The 9x is a good little radio and with a firmware upgrade I hear they a great. They can be easily paired with a LRS or with a frysky module. Keep in mind you say you want 1.2ghz and that will kill your 2.4ghz control range unless you use a filter.

    My opinion......

    For a plane:

    *ditch the diversity
    *ditch the OSD and autopilot
^^waste of money, especially for a noob

*buy a 200-300mW VTX from RMRC
*buy a used JR or Futaba 72Mhz computer radio and a Corona receiver
*patch antenna on ground and Vee on plane
    *cheap 420TVL camera

+ do tons of reading here, lots of info

LOL Sounds like me back in december last year, and about half of the people here that have learned that's not the answer.
500mw is PLENTY PLENTY enough. I'm planning a 10 mile flight, using my 500mw.
My suggestion, because I fly one of these and it's easy to throw in the air and fly from virtually any location with little landing room required:

    EZStar
Lawmate 500mw, 1.2 or 2.4ghz (Ditch the diversity until you get 30-50 flights under you, this is from experience - I'm only now CONSIDERING one).
8dbi flat patch antenna - you can fly for miles and miles on one of these and it has a SUPER wide beam - I generally fly this but am stockpiling higher DBI antennas for my long flight.
    Tiny OSD
    Futaba 7 or 9 radio.
If you want to throw the money at UHF now great, I suggest EZUHF though, strap it onto a Futaba and good to go. Add one EZUhf Lite RX..
My Zephyr runs the EZUHF diversity though, for longer range.

    This works for me.

Now while you practice and understand what you can and cannot do - you can be building your race rocket ready plane (ie Zephyr) - but you'll know how much work and testing goes into it by then...
This is typical of an FPV flight local for me, when more time permits and locations then I break out the long range plane - although this one has flown as far as the long range (3 miles so far)
On average I fly 1 mile, 1.5 miles - check out scenery and go home but my time schedule is so messed up that's all I get.

Spend the money and get a real rx. We put too much money in the air to risk it with crap radios. Futaba, JR, Hitec, graupner, multiplex. I recommend a radio with over 8 channels and modularised. This way you can fly MHz, ghz, and UHF frequencies with minimal fuss.

Get a slow and stable flier like bixler with inexpensive parts, throw a camera and transmitter on and get flying!!

I have a FY31ap with the Cyclopes osd and they work great together. I just ordered the Hornet osd to match my FY31ap.

Id start out small and build from there. I chose to go IMRC with my equipment because it's plug and play. Good antennas are a must purchase, and will work on anything. I chose Ibcrazy's CP cloverleafs.
I like having the OSD to track my battery and to see where i am as i explore around from the air. It looks alot different then on the ground. lol Im using the EzOsd. I'm just flying a quad now, but plan to get my stryker all hooked up soon and really take advantage of the system i've pieced together.

Im personally use a 9X, and have had 0 issues with it. I put the Frsky system in it( easy upgrade). You will want to start small to get use to fpv. I tell you the first time your video fades and drops out even for a sec it will feel like forever. So take it slow dont overcomplicate things that could be simple.

OSD is ok so long as it is very simple. I fly a Remzibi. Simple, easy to set up and it works. NO RTH, no stabiliazation, ect. Just an arrow home and battery voltage is all I need.

Beyond the basics, all you are doing is trading control of your aircraft to a peice of equipment. That's no way to fly.

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.
