When you fly FPV which range do you enjoy the most?

I mean really... is it about long range, and finaly making it all the way over there! Or maybe it is just zooming by for close range fun?

I find medium range flights still going out a distance but not too far is more fun. At max range theres doubt that creeps in that still gives me an element of excitment but not as much as ploughing around in my comfort zone

Short range, hands down. Low altitude skimming, running around obstacles, through trees, under overhangs, and between the neighbors houses is where the fun is at. Not to mention set up is a fraction of the time and equipment for short range as it is for long range.

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

I chose medium range. I think I like to fly sites. I can already tell (and the local Ga guys can tell this about me too) that I am always coming up with "missions" within 3 miles to overfly. For example... it's easier to just GO to lake Allatoona to overfly it - but the kool factor (at least for me) is to get within 2 miles of it and then hit it and come back. Not to mention - knowing I can go 3 miles and back definitely boosts my confidence when I'm doing close-in work.

Close in stuff like Alex flies looks exciting!!! I do feel that I'm in the market for the high gain omni that wadeantenna.com offers --- I am just not good at flying close in on a patch yet. LOL. Once I get that I think I'll try the more daring stuff. But not being able to scratch-build and make bullet-proof planes is keeping me from that. I can afford to replace my gear - but I dont want to have to. I def need to learn how to build my own planes and then I won't mind tearing shit up - LOL.

As far as long range - hmm - I'm sure that I''ll build ONE rig that's setup for it. But it's not my thing really. I do understand the effort it takes and my hat is off to those guys. I'm a GoogleEarth dork. Within 5 miles of my house I've found sites that I've driven by for years and not paid them any attention. But with FPV they are interesting missions to overfly.

I have more fun with close/medium range but lately I have been doing longer range flights to test the range of the gear I have. Personally I enjoy flying around things and trying to not to crash.

The one thing I know how to do well with FPV - crash. All in a day of fun!
I believe landing is a full body experience .... I do my best to aim for your body.

Im seting up a meduim/longrange plane now. Radian Pro with DOSD and RTH....hope to get out to at least 5 miles comfortably. My EZ* will remain primarily close range flying on 2.4 rc. The Radian will be on dragon link.

Medium range for me. I just finished my long range plane so we will see how I like it but I don't think I am going to like sitting in the same spot for an hour just cruising up high.
