I highly doubt a foam plane would get hit with lightning to begin with unless it just happened to be in the path at the right time... There is nothing conductive enough on the surface of a foam plane to merit the strike wanting to hit it in the first place... real aircraft are made of metals and or composites (which could be conductive)... if a foam plane did get hit there would be nothing left to it! And lightning can happen outside of a storm or cloud, where I grew up heat lightning was common when a cloud wasn't even visible in the sky.

I doubt a foam plane COULD get struck by lightning, it's an insulator.

Motor generates static electricity, use NV goggles and you'll see that, foam plane carries a certain amount of static on it if it's moving through air.

Those electrons could flow off, in the path of least resistance (OUTSIDE) - lightning would not penetrate the foam unless there was something else in it's path.

It's basic electronics. Maybe I lost some static in that strike, and as I argued I did not get struck or my equipment would have stopped immediately...

A foam plane is a capacitor flying through the sky.

Heat lightning is a myth insofar as it certainly does involve clouds... they are just so far away that they blend with the sky in many cases. I have seen it literally hundreds of times in my prior life as an airline captain. Altitude makes the phenomenon even more common since you can see such great distances.
