    My DJI F550 FPV build.

So here's my work in progress flying FPV platform.
Still putting this thing together, will post more as I go. Started building it saturday, and here I am.

    Equipment:
    DJI F550 frame.
    NAZA + GPS stabilization
    1.2ghz 1W vTx
2.4ghz 1W booster for control Tx
    WDR770 FPV cam
    AR8000 dsmx reciever
    800kv v2216 sunnysky motors
    4-5Ah 4S battery packs
    10x4.5 props

Got everything but the GPS and FPV gear mounted now... The FPV gear will be simple, just a fixed forward facing cam, vTX, and wire harness for them. I will have a roll/tilt gimbal with landing gear on the bottom later. A little confused on the best spot for my GPS now.. The instructions are pretty unclear.

    Will post more progress tomorrow!

Check your GPS Antenna! the Cable has to come out in Flight Direction (theres also a little arrow) thats because there is also the Compass bulit in.

Hey AT, I think I saw you over on RCG getting started. A good level of protection on this frame is to put a blob of hot glue over all the + solder joints on the power distro plate. I've just finished (and crashed, teehee) my F550/Naza FPV build if you have any questions.

My GPS isn't mounted, just sitting there so I know it's not right.

Thx for the hot glue tip.. I might have to do something like that. Mainly just a little confused about the XYZ setup and GPS mounting. Think I'll mount it towards the back on the mast it came with. Why did you crash?? Bad setup? About to get started on this thing again!

Not sure why I crashed, but I *think* it was 2.4GHz radio lockout. I've had it out nearly twice as far without issue before. But I've since added the 1.3GHz Vtx (with LPF..) and this was its first real test besides in my small yard at low altitude.

AT, here's that hot glue blob I was telling you about. It peels off if you ever need to service the solder joint in the future, but nothing short of a direct jab with a sharp object will so much as disturb it.

OK - Got everything setup and flying! She hovers PERFECT in GPS atti mode. But i have a problem...

F550 was about 40-50 ft high up, 100 feet forward from me. Tested failsafe! While in failsafe mode, the hexa came back to me, but made a constant circular movement. The circling it made was pretty big, like it was flying in a 15ft wide circle all the way until it touched down. Anyone know what this could be? This is my first hexa so I'm very inexperienced in making naza adjustments or what the gains even mean. Please help me fix this!!!
Will post more pics of my setup soon

    Thanks,
    Nick

Was it windy? These things are a handful in the wind.

Have you adjusted the xyz location of the GPS antenna?

It wasn't windy so I don't think that was the problem. My XYZ could possibly be the problem.. I measured the distance from my naza unit to my gps and I think I got it pretty accurate, but im not sure if my naza is exactly in the CG. Its pretty close though. I didn't adjust any gains at all Idk if the gains effect failsafe but it hovered fine before it entered failsafe

nah it's not the gains. I have all my gains at 100% (default) and have no reason to change them. maybe just a fluke, try it a couple more times. more importantly, try it somewhere else. might have been local interference.
