    Will this hurt performance ..

    Hi ..

Please have a look at this 1280mhz Clover leaf CP antenna .. the top center is not in line with the bottom center .. I wonder if this deformation will hurt performance or is it tolerable ???

Thanks a lot for your advice ..

    Ps...

I have the another one which have a perfect one concentric node... bith were purchased from readymaderc...

Khaled, I think you will find that in real world performance tests, it performs just fine. I have some DIY clover leafs that I can assure you look WAYYYYY worse than that and they work great. If you are worried about it, setup a little ground test and try them both out.

I don't know what I'm talking about ( ) But I'm guessing since the length of the wire hasn't changed (so no change in resonant frequency) you won't see much difference except that the shape of the radiated pattern may be off a little bit.

I am certainly no expert, so by all means wait for Alex or Mashton or someone else to confirm, but when I get home tonight, I will post some pics of my ugly ducklings I think you might be surprised at how well these things still work even when the geometry is not perfect.

@JBeloncik - Do you remember me landing on my antenna at the Pecan patch fly-in because my VTX ejected? Mangled as all heck, but I didn't even see it fit to bend it back to a reasonably close shape.

If you are worried about the angles being perfect, forget about it. It only has to be somewhat close. There is a HUGE margin for error.

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

Thanks a lot to all of you gents, I think I'll be fine in that case
Glad I didn't have to engage over thinking mode more than this

    Kahled,
Just to mess with you a little.... Actually the angle of attack....

Just kidding. That looks like a side feed so geometrically speaking you are very hard pressed to get it perfectly in line every time. It will be fine as Alex already stated.

    JBeloncik,
Thanks for thinking of me as an expert but I am no expert, only experienced at building some of Alex's fine designs. I do listen carefully to him and try to retain as much as possible (often hard to do because it gets so overwhelming talking to him because he can forget I am not an engineer sometimes lol).
Yeah I broke it. But I have Duck tape so its ok.
