I'm in Leesburg Va, just getting into FPV too. Just about to start a Skywalker build. Where are you other NoVA guys located?

I'm in Laurel right between DC and Baltimore.
Airplanes LIKE to fly : Helicopters WANT to kill you.
I went to an engineering college in Laurel, MD (Capital College). Would take about an hour or so to get there from here I think.
I don't know where Leesburg Va. Good luck with the new build!!! Taking forver, but I'm just about done mine
I decided to hold off on the Skywalker build, I think I may want to build a zephyr instead. To test out if I want to go the wing route instead of a normal airframe I build a wing out of dollar tree board. Turns out it flies really well, I think I may put my FPV gear on it. Just waiting on my vtx, everything else has been delivered.

Nice wing Mike! Not sure what your goals are for FPV but it looks like you fly pretty well already. I say FPV that bitch and forget the Skywalker! I know some people love them but if you want to fly fast/low/close to trees, etc. I think you will have a lot more fun with the wing!
I live in South Riding BTW, so if you want to meet up sometime just let me know.

Thanks! After a few more flights with the new wing I've decided it's pretty awesome for a cheap build. I'll put my fpv gear on it when I get my vtx. I've been flying for a couple of years and for the last year I've been hooked on 3d heli flying. I've been flying almost everyday over the summer and decided it was time to take a bit of a break and do something else. Still flying the helis a couple times a week but I've enjoyed getting back into planes. My goals for FPV is just to take baby steps and get each aspect sorted without getting in over my head. I decided to go with just a basic 5.8ghz setup for now with some CP antenna's. Next step is an OSD with all the bells and whistles, then I plan to go with a LRS and see how far I can stretch the 5.8ghz, then after that I'll go with better video system for low flying, buzzing the fields, ect. With helis I went from a 450, to a 500, to a 600 Pro in less than a year...I may end up addicted to FPV too.![]()
