On the APM1 the magnetometer is external as I remember, is that board working better ?
I noticed that when I was flying forward it tends to yaw a little but I don't know if it's a tuning problem, mechanical problem (motors mounted a little inclined, yaw mechanism issues, etc.. ) or it's all about the APM2 onboard magnetometer and electrical noise around it. I will try to finish my triocopter and I won't try improving it without having another working tricopter / quad / hexa , I just made this mistake now, I didn't fly in the last 1 - 2 months
So far I'm happy about GPS, happy about my new center plates, sad about the thing that I can't make MinimOSD work toghether with 3DR Radio, more sad about one of my 3DR Radios that worked for just one day .. and also happy that I'm almost finished with it, hope the new camera mount will be ok in terms of vibrations.
Look into the H-Quad ! last three crashes took me an average of 20 minutes and 20 cents per crash. I am in love

I have ordered an APM2 board and have had it sitting in the box for some time now. To be honest, I can't be bothered trying to set it up so I am willing to offer it for sale if anyone is interested. PM me if you like. Price will be lower than the rrp but the item is still unopened, and obviously unused.
I am not as accomplished as XtrmMan and others with APM; however, I don't want to you to rot while you wait for CC; if finances are not tight, why don't you give APM2 a try; if you have a sturdy ship like FPVDM Tri I can help you with it; I do not know or care for autonomous flight, but I think we should get on Skyp and talk about very minor things that will get you big fun ; drop me a line if you want and since you already have the device let 's just chat before you auction that thing; you might be surprised ! you have helped me, let me return the favor;

Hello again guys.
I've been away from home most of the last month or two, but I'm back for a couple days (then unfortunately gone most of October and November again). But while I'm home I'd like to try getting my tricopter flying again.
Last night I replaced my bent yaw axle (anybody know where I can buy just the axle without the rest of the items in the $15 crash kit? It seems to be an odd size) for the 5th time. When I powered it up on my desk (without the props) I noticed the yaw was constantly oscillating back and forth about 10°. I replaced the servo back there and it now seems to be a bit more stable, maybe that will help improve the flying.
I then updated the onboard firmware to version 2.7.3 and tried to fly it in my tiny little driveway. When I started it up in STAB mode and gave it some throttle, there was absolutely no yaw control and the craft just rapidly spun around it's central vertical axis. I erased the eeprom, reset the board, reflashed, and that problem went away. Right as it was getting pitch dark I was able to get decent STAB and ALT HOLD flight.
This morning it's fairly grey and damp outside but promises to be drier this afternoon. If it dries out, I'll take it out for a spin and try LOITER and AUTO - always an acid test. It should be interesting as I'm now running with stock, unchanged configuration parameters (I did do the radio calibration over again). I'll keep everyone posted on my progress.
I'd love to get this thing flying again as well as it did in my early days with APM2.

@Ant - Are you still waiting for a CC3D? If you got one, are you using it with your Tricopter?
Some of Danker's latest posts are pretty depressing - it sounds like the developers are quitting and Dankers refuses to release the product in its current state. I hope you got a board. If you did, I'd love to know how it's flying for you.
Xtraman and Ant,
I have lots of extra parts for the Delrin Tri; if one of you sets it up so I don't have to pay for shipping; engines, esc, axel, etc. at no charge.
Let me know
Well I was out with my Delrin Tricopter and APM2 again today. The roller-coaster ride of being an APM user continues - I had a fantastic day! Things were working pretty well. ALT HOLD did very well, LOITER, pretty much loitered and AUTO did its thing. Even RTL worked and landed itself. I tried putting 10" props on and a 5000mAh 4S battery and got 18:48 minutes of waypoint scripted flight. I think I can push to get 20 minutes pretty easily - that'd be cool. I wonder if it could lift a 8000mAh battery?
There were a few oddities - like it points at a weird angle when flying to the first waypoint. Circling around a waypoint is dodgy at best. And there's a weird jerking motion when it switches to the next waypoint. But I can live with these things. And some problems might be tunable - there's a bit of a wobble when flying between waypoints.
Besides replacing the yaw servo, I didn't really change much. I guess I have to give credit to the latest release of the firmware for the good performance.
