Shouldn't be any "free" space in the reflector < 1/4 Lambda? In other words, are you sure the reflector is working as expected?

I have already added one extra vertical line since I took the photo, for a better gridding effect. I had the same concern... so better safe than sorry. The other option would be to cnc cut 8 more raiser arms, or use a metal net as a backing.... which is what I'd prefer

Why not cut a 4 sided cone and just solder the edges up? This would eliminate the hole issue and provide a fairly good pattern.

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

maybe an 8 sided one approximating a round pattern... square reflectors are ugly

I was also thinking of heavy duty aluminum foil between the raisers. Just epoxy needed, no soldering.

Ok, I found a solution for the reflector, I wanted it to be solid, no grids used..

    Lots of soldering though!

Now I need to make my plane safe for the record attempt..

It has wayy too many flights on its shoulders... it's getting a bit soft and bendy.
