Thread: EzOSD. ???

    EzOSD. ???

I'm in the market for an OSD, initially settled on the Immersionrc EzOSD but then saw the TBS EzOSD...

What's the difference? Are they the same but with some TBS upgrades?

    Questions galore before I order...

Is this only for UHF Control, I fly 35Mhz control.

What are the black connectors, I assume they are battery/esc connectors or is that on the battery sensor and do I have to buy this separately?

I use XT60's On all my flight batteries... Is this an option.

Does the TBS EzOSD also work with the iPhone telemetry app same as IRC EzOSD?

Is it still Ez to install... Any soldering required?

Any help making me decide what to purchase would be greatly appreciated.

Can I buy direct from TBS if I am in the UK?

    Cheers

I'll answer some of the questions for you...

It's essentially a 'tuned' EZOSD. Differences - upgraded GPS, simplified firmware, TBS sticker, start up screen telling you not to fly like a girl

It's for any kind of control, doesn't have to be UHF. RSSI won't be as easy to set up if you're not using EZUHF, but you might not be worried about that.

I believe the current sensor comes without connectors and you solder your own on, so XTs would be an option.

    Yes, iTelemetry willl work.

Ease of installation depends on what the rest of your setup is, it's not going to be rocket science, but I'd bet on a wee bit of soldering.

Yes, you can buy directly from them in the UK.

Thanks for the information... One further question, does the current sensor come with the EzOSD or do I have to buy separately?

i telemetry works if you got a compatible video tx and rx.

Ezosd comes usually with Deans, but you can solder Xt60 on it.

Got one Ezosd with upgrade and one without and I can tell you I would buy the TBSEzosd...

Picks up satellite much faster (better GPS Module) also remembers Sat Locations so after you change battery you don't need to wait for GPS fix.
Also the Software is cleaner so no unnecessary clutter...

Fly always with Ezosd, tried different other ones, but it's the best out their!

You can fly 35mhz and set up RSSI for it, you just need to connect the RSSI output to it. It's easy to modify Corona Receivers...

    http://www.immersionrc.com/manuals/EzOSDProManual.pdf

That shows a Futaba R168DP PCM RSSI "Pin mod"

Corona Receivers are better for Long Range a extended aerial (1/2wave or longer) helps as well.

    Hi Trappy,

I have noticed that it's not easy to get a gps fix with my ezosd when I'm in a mountain valley.

Compared to the usual landscape it took about 8 minutes versus maybe 1 in open areas. One time I couldn't get a fix at all after waiting 15min.

How much does your upgraded GPS help with that problem?

The GPS patch aerial is bigger, so it picks up Signal much faster even in not perfect conditions (inside house, mountains etc.), because of the gain from the aerial it picks up more satellites and does that quicker... You can imagine the amount of satellites LOS around Mountains are less, so with the higher gain aerial you get those left satellite Signals stronger and so the GPS module can determine quicker where you are.
Also if you change battery, the gps module has got a memory... So it remembers previous GPS Data... instant GPS fix usually
