What FC do you use and why.

Just wanted to know your input flight controllers and how do they work for you.

I have only used MWC and like it a lot. I had a custom made carbon frame that I made which I could eliminate almost completely the low freq wobbles.

I need a very stable machine for aerial video (TV stuff ), I have demand for that but I need something very good and donīt have a lot of money to spend on a MK.

I tried a flamewheel the other day with my MWC, the result was terrible, the wobbles were just impossible to eliminate. I must say I HATE this frame.

BTW I have never reflashed my esc, I have bought new escs just for this purpose.

I was thinking about a DJI board, have heard wonders about it but I donīt want to spend the money and later find out it works just like the MWC.

i use FF FreeFlight autobalanced 3d gyros, i used to have KK, but FF is way better for FPV because of the autobalance.

Free Flight, it is cheap + autolevel ($32-$50). With stock firmware it is only for x and + copter. You can flash it for multiwii and set it up for what ever configuration you want. But they are out of stock everywhere right now. *** I have 2 that I have been hoarding....

Naze32 is also a great candidate (an improved clone of the Free Flight), very small + more sensors and $72 price tag. New improvements for software are being made every day. Setting it up is a snap. Also bluetooth compatible with an android app so you can tune it with your phone or tablet at the field. I just bought my 2nd board.

To sum it up, they are quite inexpensive and have some nice features and tune easily.

I fly CC and Naze32, but mostly for general flying and only in rate. Naze has a mag/baro but I've yet to get them to work successfully. Most likely a tuning problem which I don't have time to fix and I don't really need it. CC just feels better on the sticks, but that's personal preference.

I dont have one, but from what I've heard DJI Naza has a nice attitude leveling and altitude hold. Most likely this something you want. They have also just released a GPS unit for it. DJI Naza is probably going to give you what you need. I have just heard nightmares about flying in rate mode, but maybe some DJI users can confirm.

I have been flying the Naza for several months now and I am very pleased with the controller. The altitude hold is a great asset for video and I have used it a couple times when I became disorientated as to flight direction (which my have saved a few bucks). I think the initial setup was the easiest flight controller that I have used. My GPS unit is on the way so I will report back after I have a little experience with it.

Had quick sniff at multiwii, but MegaPirate got the better of me. The MegaPirate is pretty complete and should work well as a camera rig since it has alt hold, gps hold , RTH, autoland etc. You can now even get a FC for it from goodluckbuy for $70 including the IMU, just add a GPS and a sonar. It takes a little bit of tuning to get it to be stable, so if you want a plug and play ship it's not for you. I've been using the Flyduino FC on my Megapirate and can highly recommend it.

Another one I've read good things about is the Rabbit FC, another goodluckbuy.com unit. There's a thread on RCG for it.

I fly a DIY MWC I made last spring. Warthox shield with a Aurdino Mini and a WM+ on foam tape. I run the 1.7PRE version of the MWC code and have never touched it since. It goes fast and it goes slow and is very smooth in FFF. I don't have any auto level or other features, but I don't hover very much these days. I tried a Quadrino last spring, but could never get it to fly smooth in FFF. Had a bad wobble and would fight me all the time. I sold it. I would try a Open Pilot CC if they would ever come out.

I fly an FPV tri on a MultiWii (Arduino/WM+) and I've recently built a quad spider with a recently aquired second hand Openpilot board.

My opinion, is that both FCs fly equally well once setup. However, the MultiWii can take more effort to get right. The OP board just worked. I only ran the GCS wizards and flew - no tweaking or tuning and it just works as well (if not better) as the MWFC.

If I had to choose only one board, then at present it would be the OP board. Now all I need to do is find another one!
