Fishbone 2.3 / Canard - a plane to carry loads

Hi! Becausethis plane / concept could be interesting, I want to introduce a pretty unusualplane, which was develloped and scratch build by a buddy. There are a few ofthem flying here in Germany, especially around munich. The Canard is made / cut from EPP, so it isreally tough and takes rough landings.

Not to mixthem up during flight with the others, I painted mine yellow.

The canardwas develloped to carry a lot of load (I added two GoPros in housings) andstill be variable enough to change the load without having problems with the cg.In such cases I just have to change the location of the batteries.

The firstversion had straight wings, the second version has a delta part in the middleof the wings. That makes it more stable and because of better mounting easierto handle.
The character of the canard is ductile and very forgiving.

Here aresome videos. I hope you like them:

That looks like a winner... Do you have plans/dimensions available? Would love to build one for flying in the mountains here in the Colorado.

How does it handle the wind? Looked like all of your videos were on calm days.

Sorry, I have no plans. I got the parts from the develloper/buddy. The plane has a wingspan of 2.3 meters (90.5 inches) and because of its size and weight it is pretty steady with wind (compared to a Maxi-swift). We still use a FY31AP and then its even more calm. Some videos are not at very calm weather. At the "Ettaler Mandl" we had good turbolences from thermals and mountains and during the dives in the videos you can see the shaking - but it was not too bad. I didn't cut the video with higher wind-speed (40kmph =25mph and more) but that was really ok to fly. I just had to watch the battery to make sure to have enough power left to get back. Never underestimate that! ;-)

I do not have such pictures exactly and would have to take them, when we go flying next time. Hope the weather god will allow that on Saturday. These days it is poring the rain!

But here you can scroll through the Forum and there are plenty of detailed pictures from some building experiences:

I hope that helps a little.

Yep if you'll have time to shoot some pics of your plane I would be happy...Thanks for the other link, seems this plane is very popular..It looks really good!
Can you tell me does the canard have some incidence towards the main wing? Is the back part of the canard below, above or in the same spot as the main wing? (hope you understand what I mean hehe)?

This looks a little like the Beachraft Starship. Great aircraft!
