Sassen, I've seen you mention the Locosys GPS on a few threads. I'd be very interested in hearing about what advantages the upgrade might offer and what I required to complete the upgrade.

Basically faster lock times, more sensitive and has a built in battery which allows for storage of last known location so acquiring sats is a whole lot quicker. Downside is larger size, heavier and no SAW filter so somewhat more sensitive to Vtx interference.

Does it just plug in somewhere or do you solder it in place o the one already part of the EZOSD?
Hi,
I upgraded already 1 of my ezosd's
I bought one LS20031 which is configured for Dragonlink and that didn't work, didn't get a lock. I tried to reprogramme it with MiniGPS and now it's a brick (maybe it had write protection on it). It's usually possible to reprogramme the GPS 8 times. I bought another one which works out of the box from a sparkfun distributor here in Australia.
I love it!! Lock time is much shorter, even gets a lock inside the house...
But one question the LS 20031 usually has got a default update rate of 1hz correct?
I found these settings for MiniGPS in one of Sanders postings
GLL [0] RMC [1] VTG [0]
GSA [5] GSV [0] GGA [1]
ZDA [0] MCHDN [0]
Fix update rate [1] (is this the update rate?)
Baudrate [38400]
RTCM baudrate [9600]
DGPS [Disable]
@ Sander Which update rate is working best? Is it possible to run it 5hz or 10hz?
@ Bigarv here is the datasheet with the pins http://www.robotgear.com.au/Cache/Fi...sheet_v1.1.pdf
You will need Ground, Power, TX and RX just solder the old cable onto the PCB of the LS20031. If you program the module before, take care the LS20031 is for 3,3 V so 5 V will probably kill it (standard is 5V for USB Serial Adapter). Just make sure you don't have the oldest firmware (ezosd) and you are in business...
Thanks speedster. Great info.
