    Wavy top in Predators

So I got a pair of Predators a few weeks ago and have had an issue with the video being wavy at the top. It is only there when I use the internal rx, if I use the video cable the picture is amazing.

I have read the thread on RCG and tried their suggestions...change camera, add resistors and different vtx. Nothing works? Most of the people that have had this issue say they don't have the wavy top in their DVR when connected to the goggles, mine does. I could post video if you need it.

My setups are as follows FYI.

    EZ*
    800mW 1.2 vtx from RMRC w/SPW
Sony CCD HAD cam from Securitycamera2000
    Skylark Trace ll OSD

    Wildcat
    ImmersionRC 600mW 5.8 vtx w/CL
Fatshark CCD Killer w/pan and tilt

    Ground Station for EZ*
1.2G Lawmate rx w/3 turn Helical (VAS)
    BEVRC PV700 DVR
7inch Monitor (important to note this does not have the wavy top)
Farenheit video splitter/amp (like the pyle from RMRC)
Fatshark 100mW 5.8 vtx w/CL (for wireless link to goggles)
Predator goggles or Trimersion Goggles with Airwave 5.8 vrx velcroed to top (not wavy in the trimersions)

    Ground Station for Wildcat
Predator goggles or Trimersion Goggles with Airwave 5.8 vrx velcroed to top (not wavy in the trimersions)
    BEVRC PV700 DVR

    Any ideas?
Yeah I broke it. But I have Duck tape so its ok.

Mine had the wavy top in both the DVR and the goggles using the fatshark RCV922 camera... I also had to turn them on and off two or three times before I got a proper picture.

I tried resistors on the video line, between the video line and ground, and both before and after the OSD, nothing worked. I plugged in my new camera and the problem disappeared. I see you have the same/similar cam as me on one of the setups though so I have no idea... must be a bad rx?

That is what I was thinking so I am hoping Fatshark will chime in here.

Aeryck was having the same issue on his Dominators. He "fixed" it by swapping transmitters. Both transmitters are Immersion 600mW from the same batch. The only change was to disconnect the wires and antenna from one transmitter and put them onto the other. He swapped back and forth several times and also tried multiple channels to make sure it was the transmitter and not a loose connection, etc.

With transmitter A running, the top 20 or so lines get wavy and bend to the right. With transmitter B running, the image is perfect.

Both transmitters range check OK, the only issue is the top of the image waving on transmitter "A".

We'll have to retest transmitter A with a standalone receiver sometime soon. At the time all he had available were the sharks.

Setup is PZ0420, Skylark Trace 2, 600mW Immersion VTX, cloverleaf antennas.

This issue is best explained by Sander in this post:

    http://fpvlab.com/forums/showthread....he-video/page2

A solution exists with new RX boards that have a sync lock IC added to them to minimize this issue. Boards will be in stock next week and I will mail them out free of charge to anyone having this issue (easy to swap in). I'm still figuring out the logistics of how I'm going to handle this so please be patient until I announce how to proceed. The fix will work on Dominator and Predator which share the same PCB.

That is actually not bad mine is terrible. It bends way left and is constant. I will try and post a video later.

    Yeah, mine was worse too

This video shows it pretty well - really evident from about 10 secs on. The image in the goggles was worse (more bent to the right, and colours flicked in and out of bloom and so on.

As I say, mine went away mostly when switching camera - I'd like to try the fixed board though to see if it gets rid of the last tiny little flicker I can see at the top.
