with you I have 6 requests for these jems... I think I might be ready to start producing them by the end of next week... 8-10 days and I will have the wire bending system down. But you know the SPW on the tx side will be standard a 1.2ghz and that isn't exactly mini

    Thank you Sircana,
I also admire your work, you make some really professional looking antennas, and they work wonderfully too.

Time to make a bending jig. Bending this by hand is going to take you an eternity. Do you have access to a wood router? I have and idea for a forming jig.

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

Understood. I fly some small wings and the barrier for CP (for me) is the size of the antennas in the lower frequencies.

Likewise; thats why I fly linear on 910MHz. Antennas are just too big (and fragile).

I am, however, using CP on my 5.8GHz systems.
Far better is it to dare mighty things, even though checkered by failure; than to take rank with those who neither enjoy much or suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

Hello Blue Chip, I have built also a tx CP prototype, it's really high gain like 5-6db omni...

It's a parasitic Lindenbland antenna. But you can obtain some size saving with a quadriflar helix too.

    To IBcrazy:
this was my first Gig, I designed it in cad and cut it of Aluminum 5mm thick.
It's unfortunately a failed attempt because it's good for checking accuracy, but you can't really bend the wire with it.

My idea is to make a linear one female and male , than all you have to do is put it in a vise and bend the wire directly with the gig, tightening the vise, then all you have to do is bend the curved sections.

When I first read the title I thought you'd say its easy to diy too... Way to crush my dreams!! When I saw the picture, I hesitated cause I'm not sure if I'm supposed to look at stuff like that at work! Oh, just slightly phalic... At first I couldn't see why its more difficult than a normal helical, had to look closely to see the extra bends... DAMN!

I love the SPW and Clover but on 910mhz they're just wacky big and hard to place on a multirotor. I've had the props strike them pulling a lobe out even with 4 inches of clearance... the only thing I can figure is that between the wind and high G maneuvers its swinging all over the place. That and I pretty much smash one for every six batteries flown off... I make 4 at a time. If anybody can figure out how to make them smaller I'm all for it!!! But by next spring I'll have a UHF system and 2.4 video anyhow...

    Wow, I feel the pain,
but there is a fix for that. Material used..... that's the answer.

You can use a semi-rigid cable like rg-405, that will not allow the Pinwheel antenna to move around at all.

You can also use more rigid wire to make your Pinwheel as an example you can use 1mm silver coated memory wire, as opposed to the .6mm stuff that likes to dance around a bit. One nice blob of EPOXY glue, not hot glue at the center, and you are set!

This will confer stiffness beyond belief.
