When I was reading that the GPSINS should be placed into the fuselage with the connector pointing to the nose of the plane, I was fairly surpized. I figure most people will place the unit pretty much to the front of the plane anyways, which then means that the cable either has to go under the GPSINS or over the patch antenna (asuming not such a wide fuselage). I think it would be better to have a GPSINS wich should be mounted such that the connector can look to the back to avoid this.
The other thing is that from what I understand about 3D compas accelerators etc is that it would be relatively easy to introduce some sort of function into the software where you can tell the plane that it is now flying straight and level. Independant on how the GPSINS then is mounted, the software then could calibrate and remember that the position/direction of the unit is then apropriate - no?
A serial in would be a great feature. Ok, I now only have 6 wires going from the rx to the unit as I obivousely did not doubled the GND and power connections (the latters do not seem to be connected anyways). But my long range system would support a serial PPM out which would save a lot of wires. Especially since I hope that sometime in the future the throttle will also be controlled by the autopilot to maintain level or climb if needed (waypoints RTH).
I asked elsewhere but it seems like the current Firmware does not support waypoints. I was under the impression that this is the case, especially since the feature list mentiones waypoints.
The data logger also is not documented. This feature seems to request some sort of PC side software. Where would I get that?
Other than this, I like the OSD. It's small and lightweight and of course works with the SkyLarkFPV tracker. So it was a no brainer. I have the impression the hardware has more potential than what the software so far supports. I thus hope we soon see a firmware enhancement.

Good points on he GPSINS and the PPM connection to the Rx.
I am hoping too, that the new FW will much the HW's capabilities.

I'm in the process of getting the standard OSD under control. The documentation completely leafes out the OSD menue settings and their meaning. Some points are somewhat clear, but not all and I really would like to fully understand and use my standard IV OSD. Any information available?
TIA
Markus
We're still trying toto make it better, thanks for your help.

I also need some help. Cant find anything with regards to waypoints or more importantly, RTH. Does the PC interface cover this because I can't seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated.
RTH works, but waypoints seem to exist only on their webiste. They now show a demo video on their page showing waypoints, but the support section does not seem to list any firmware for us to upgrade. I'm really starting to get dissapointed a bit as I PAID for a product that advertised waypoints but that does not seem to be available for me.
So, SKYLARK, please provide a way for your existing customers to upgrade their standard IV OSDs to include waypoints! We are waiting now for 7 months. I mean I otherwise think its a cool product, and in fact would recommend it to others. However at the moment it seems we have paid for a standard OSD IV just to get nothing more than a dianmu OSD. That would have been available for much less money....

I wish I could help here - I have a VERY early STD IV (I was the only one to get this) --- before I could get it in a plane Skylark requested for me to send it back --- which I never got around to. So its one of the few Skylark products that I didn't get a chance to fly. I am sure that they will get you sorted.

Just an update: I never heard back from anyone regarding waypoints. Very disappointed with purchasing Skylark's most expensive OSD only to find out it doesn't do what is advertised. Also the documentation is very poor. I ended up selling my Skylark Standard OSD and buying one that actually does what it advertised. Stay away from Skylark's IMHO.
