Copper for the base plate is better, especially when used with an antenna tracker with a magnetometer, it will not afffect the magnetometer. Steel on the other hand will totally screw with the magnetometer. Nice antennas.

Yes, base plate are all copper and will stay copper 0.6mm I don't care if it costs more but I like to work with it. If I used galvanized steel than I'd need a connector, and an extension... that's 2 connectors more. I am going direct now. I am soldering the cable's ground directly to the copper and feed the antenna directly with the coax... that's an easy 1.5db less loss compared to using 2 more connectors (at the reflector plate and at the extension cable)

Looking forward to my second order of antennas arriving soon! This makes a total of 7 antennas from Kondor. Nothing wrong with the antennas from the Boys from Back home but when Kondor started building here in Italy, I had to support. Thanks Kondor! Your service, production and customization is much faster than I ever thought possible. My orders won't be as picky in the future, lol.

    Hello Frank,
I hope you are well. I thought you'd like to see your antennas prior to flying them

They are what I'd call "custom requests" but that's what I am all about, custom

You can see the three side fed antennas, the one marked is 2370, the others a bit higher at 2410 so you can use them on 2370 as well as 2430-2450 no problem.

The two small ones are centered at 5800 but they exibit good behaviour from 5705 to 5945 , fliable on the full range... really but have the sweet spot at 5800.

The small helical is also flyable on the full range but has a low swr of 1.1:1 on 5800. This helical is what I call a custom job. I used expensive semi rigid rg-405 coax, so it can be bent to your specific angle and it can be mounted directly to the fatshark goggles. I chose the 4.25 turns one, as it would be frustrating to aim the 8 turn with your head, as it's got high directivity.

I am sure you will love flying them !

    Thanks Kondor!

I look forward to wringing these out after I get home and start feeling a little better.

    Thanks,
    Frank

Kondor, what antennas do you recommend for ground FPV? I am running a 300mW 1.2 system, currently running stock whip on the Vtx and an optimized 8db patch on the Vrx. I get good enough video through some trees and small buildings in the park across the street from my house to go almost 700 feet, but that's about the max of my video range (in this environment).

Let me just put it this way, the best way for you to promote your business is for you to send me a few matching pairs. 1280, 1080 and 5.8 is all I would need to test. (cough)

    Hello Philthyy,
The antennas I recommend for ground FPV are two SPW both on tx and rx on 1.2, that will give you as much range as it is possible, of course LOS is the biggest factor.
So I would mount the rx with the SPW high on a stick, 10 ft would be enough, and I would also mount the rx antenna on the car/truck a good 10 inches up from the roof of the car.

I see what your "offer" is, but I have a 3 days backlog of orders, it means if you order your pairs now, they may be ready to ship on friday or saturday.

I guess my antennas are promoting themselves I put my heart and effort in building them, and they work wonderfully. 3 pairs of antennas for me is 2 days of work, and I mean full. Maybe I am slow, but I am the kind of guy who seeks perfection. I see swr 1.4:1 , I cut the antenna and start over, that's me. They have to come in at 1.25:1 or better or I won't ship them (the spw), the helicals, have to come in at 1.15 or better or I won't ship them.

Now, if you are Sentry, than we can work something out...
