I recently received my Skylark Trace II OSD and am presently installing it in my FunCub FPV plane. As I will not be using an AAT (yet...!), is it necessary
to connect the Audio line for the OSD to function with only the GPS and current sensor? I already have Mic in the plane that I'd like to keep functioning
until I get the AAT. So, the connections would be:

    RSSI/5V/Gnd > Dragon Link Rx

Camera > Video In {OSD} Video Out> VTx with GND to common.

    Thanks for the help...

That's correct about the wiring Cuzn and no need to hook up the audio line if you're not using the tracker.

Thanks for the quick reply, hOtrOd...!! One more question....Skylark mentioned somewhere in this thread (I've been reading for 2 days..!!) to connect all three grounds (Camera/VTx/OSD) to common. My Camera and VTx are 12 V and the OSD is 5 V. I checked continuity on the Skylark OSD and the 5 V Gnd and the Video Gnd are common....is there any danger that I might get 12 V to the OSD or the 9 Ch Dragon Link? It's only rated to 5.8 V...and the 9 Ch DL Rx is now irreplaceable......

^ No - Tiny2 does not support AHI.

It seems the Skylark OSD Review thread has been closed before I got an answer to a question about wiring up the Skylark Trace OSD II.....

Skylark mentioned somewhere that the 3 GND wires (OSD/VTx/Camera) should be connected to a common ground. I noticed that, on the Trace II board, the 5V GND and the Video Gnd points are common.
I use a 12V VTx, a 12V Camera and a 5V DragonLink Rx (VTx/Camera powered from the balance plug of the flight battery.....DL Rx is powered from the ESC BEC). I will be connecting the RSSI/5V/Gnd pins to the DL Rx via a servo extension. The other pins, Vid In/Vid Out/Gnd (Audio will not be connected at this time) will be wired into my existing VTx-Camera harness. The question, is there any danger of ground loops or inadvertent 12V getting into the 5V circuits? Somewhere in the dusty, cobweb-filled recesses of my tired old brain, I think I remember that 2 different voltage circuits could share a common ground......I just want confirmation as, I would really hate to smoke my old DL 9 Ch Rx....it is now irreplaceable....!!

'Nother question....are most flyers using the ESC BEC to power servos/Rx or is there a move to use a separate battery? I have heard tales of ESC BEC's giving up, disabling flight controls...I have had one 30A ESC die in a helicopter.

Hoping to try this out tomorrow if I can get it connected in my FunCub....

    Thanks

    Cuzn
