Thread: Throttle not working till 50% issue (ESC to EZUHF issue)

Throttle not working till 50% issue (ESC to EZUHF issue)

    EzUHF
I just got EzUHF installed on the ritewing 65aESC (blue cover).

    Problems:
    1) Powering on the ESC with fullthrottle is NOT putting it into programming mode.
    2) The throttle will not actually kick into gear until you are about 50% on the stick. Once you stick up to 50% the throttle STARTS at 50% and can be controlled 50-100%.

    Anyone seen this before?

All issues go away when i install my 2.4 spectrum receiver, but with ezuhf... problems.

Update: I swapped out the ESC with an older one and the problems went away, but still im curious what the issue is with the ritewing ESC's. Are they simply not compatabile with UHF?
Update #2: Tried it on a different ritewing ESC and had the same issue.

Is there a throttle calibration for the esc? If so, try that w/ the ritewing esc's.
Far better is it to dare mighty things, even though checkered by failure; than to take rank with those who neither enjoy much or suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

I have the same issue.. haven't done extensive testing yet as i'm still half way through my build, but I was thinking it was my Transmitter's throttle trim which is set to mid. Perhaps not.
I'll report back here once I fiddle with my setup a bit more.

p.s. were can I find instructions on the rightwing ESC? I had no idea I could go into programming mode by powering up at full throttle.

Had the exact same thing happen to me. I had to change the esc as well. They still make a beep every few minutes with no effect but work properly. Mine had no problem with my 2.4 receiver.

What is the best ESC you guys have worked with? Im currently running a 2x 4000mah 3S on a 10x5 or 6.

I had an HK ESC that did that, was a very good ESC too....

I forget how to fix it but it will come to you, power on, go to full throttle du ring beep? (Cautiously).

Someone tried to tell me it's designed that way for safety but I swore that I got mine to work...

I went with the CastleICE 75 - you'll be peaking in the 60+ amps on WOT, I think 67amps is my magic number but have gone to 70 once or twice...10x6 prop.

I have the same problem with the Turnigy Trust 55A Controller:

When I connect a 2.4 GHz receiver to the controller, then it works.

How can this problem be solved?

    Thanks!

Recalibrate the endpoints of the ESC.

I did that when I had a problem as well. Didn't do a thing. Only solution was to change to a different ESC. Once I switched to a phoenix, problem gone.
