Here's my question: I'm flying in Germany and need a more capable FPV antenna setup. I'm receiving sending with 200mA. So I would need one of (to be announced tomorrow, well today )?!) 5.8 GHz SPWs (for the Tricopter) and one of the Heliaxials (also 5.8) for the ground station (without tracking). Because I have one of these diversity devices... would it make sense to include another SPW for ground, too?

So far it makes sense to me... BUT: What to do to extend my 2.4GHz range? Do I need another 2.4 GHz SPW + Heliaxial for my controller setup? What's the "usual way to go" here?

Thanks for your help! Let's hope your stock is big enough for all of us

Regarding 5.8... solved! Launched 15 minutes ago...

Regarding your questions about the best setup, I would suggest you to have a look here:

    Hi Sircana

Related to the new 5.8 helix.

I am flying with homemade CL and SPW. Distance is 2.5 <>3 km max. with good video. ( VTX 600mW Immersion and VRX 5.8 DUO V2.)
If I replace the receiver antenna from SPW to your 5.8 Helix, what distanse I could expect? Are there already practicle flight experiences with the 5.8 antennas?.

Btw I like your products very much... this week I recieved the 1.3 Helix and SPW. (just building it on the tracker...)

    Thank you!

I will be testing in flight as soon as I will receive the bakordered IRC 5.8 VTx...

The maths tell you that you should achieve at least 3 times more range when using the helical instead of the SPW in the receiver.

    Still another small improvement:

From now on the HELIAXIAL12 (Helical for 900-1.2-1-3) is supplied with a Whitworth screw thread in its central drill. This allow to attach the antenna directly to any standard photography tripod:

Just to give an example of application, this is the simple Ground Station I have just build for my flight mate:

Looking to the used Vrx... what is in your opinion a preferable product/Vrx? I have simular looking "digital" Fox Vrx, (including SAW filter... but this is compared to the standard Lawmate 1260 CK much worse. The Lawmate outperformed the Fox a lot (range and picture quality)
BTW we (Hugy) have flown 18km with your 1.2 Helical this weekend. Due to limit of battery and strong head wind we where not able to go further... but Video link was perfect the whole way. Lot of potential in your antenna !!!

Ordered your 5.8 Helical also and eager to test this one too :-)

    18Km!!! This is something serious!

Regarding the Ground Station on the photos, I don't fly on 1.2GHz, and I don't use the Oracle diversity since I received the Rangevideo Ground Station... Let's say I build this with stuff that I don't use anymore...

But, according to Roberto Montiel experience, Lawmate VRx (always talking about 1.2-1.3GHz band) is much better that the FOX one, even with the SAW filter mod.

    my oracle issue is solved
I had to change te potmeter below on the oracle.
Also i found out that the spw isn't realy needed on the ground station.
The helical is doing a great job also for nearby.

I forgot to change power on the UHF do; (next time)
Still i have a lot of stripes in my picture.
Yesterday i isolated the UHF Yagi antenna and UHF Booster.
I hope it will be better now.

I hear you will be becomming a birdman soon Sicana
