So far - I've bookmarked setting up pan/tilt via using my Futaba 9C rudder channels. While I think that's a great solution - I'd like to know what your experiences are with the many available head-trackers on the market??

Well you know my opinion, but if you want to try one I insist you just use my spare. It hooks right to your 9c and can give you a feel.
I think that you suggest the Foxtech AIO goggles as the most robust solution correct?
Does any1 have any experience with
1) the low-cost X-GYRO 1000 Pro??
2) Immersion R2??

No, I cannot recommend any head tracker since I have limited experience, I just like that foxtech's is integrated.
The one I have is the Flytron DT3K, which is a magnetic no-drift one, but you must face north or south for it to work. It is supposedly one of the best with only this one con, which really isnt a con since you will be wearing goggles. You dont even need a compas to know north, just put it on and turn until the pan/tilt begins to center, and you know you are facing the right way.
When my servos come in I'd like to test it out on the bench. I may just grab it from you. Is there any1 else here who has logged some time with HT?

I use the X-gyro 1000 unit. I dont mind it. The powerup is key to avoiding static drift. Drift is definately an issue with the x-gyro. Not as much so with the R2 headtracker, but still can drift with use. The best solution is a magnetic/gyro headtracker like the FLYTRON DT-3K. I have heard many good things about it. It is more expensive than the x-gyro.
Overall, headtracking is nice, but over-rated. Its great for enjoying scenery while drifting about aimlessly. But I enjoy all-out action, high speed, no chance to enjoy the scenery.![]()
So when it drifts - is there a way to reset it to straight-ahead while in flight easily?
"I Like Waffles" : FPVLAB on Facebook
Yeah, its easily re-centered, but by the end of my flights, I usually find myself facing a completely different direction when I remove the goggles![]()
I'm working on a device that may help with drift.
It will certainly help with jitter and swing limits.
But it goes between the RX and servo, not the headtracker and TX which is why it won't kill drift but it will absorb some of it.
I plan to let Derek_s and SENTRY have at it when its ready to beta
You guys could send it back and forth for testing once its gone CONUS
