Thread: TBS DISCOVERY - New quadrocopter frame

  1. #1541
What is the weight of your Quad. I have had no problems with the 9" Graupners. 10" were over kill in my opinion.

planning to get tbs discovery after flying my tricopter and damaging one motor after flying at the mountains...yes it's an active volcano mountain, one of my motor get struck by volcanic sand. and felt need as smaller and longer flight time quad. im flying 3S now, and wanting to know what's the right setup for a 8~10 minutes flying for this machine, i'll only carry my 1,3 ghz video link, fpv camera, and a gopro.

    thanks

I used 3s 5000 battery with 9x5 graupner. It lifted only about 10cm of the ground
Went down to 3300mAh, and could fly for 11 min.

I 'm preparing for an order and I need your advice.

    Equipment already have:
    Naza FC + GPS module
    DJI F450 Motor/ESC set (920 kV/30A Opto)
    IRC 5.8 GHz vTx
    IRC Duo vRx
    IRC ezOSD + Current sensor
IRC ezUHF Tx + Diversity Rx
    GoPro Hero 2
RMRC-700XV 700TVL ATR CCD (PAL) Camera
    Dominators
    A few 3S 5000 mAh LiPos

    Questions follow!
    1) From which country do you ship products? I 'm asking because I want to know if Greek customs involved.
    2) Do I need the TBS Core?
    3) Do I need the TBS Current sensor?
    4) Is my FPV cam fits on the Discovery frame?
    5) I would like to go with a more reliable power set. Do the SimonK flashed ESCs need any programming or just plug and fly?
    6) Is the TBS ezOSD work with the current sensor or need another one (see question 3)
    6) How the Discovery's flying with 9" Graupners and 3S LiPos?

    That's all for now.
Any suggestion or advice is appreciated.

Looking forward to place my order.
    Alex

No CORE and no Current Sensor is needed for your setup. Although you may need a power supply for the 12V camera. Since I suggest to move to a 4S battery with the 9x5 Graupners. The camera will fit no problem. The SimonK are "ready to fly", no programming needed. The EzOSD is a self-contained unit so you need to hook the EzOSD current sensor to the DISCOVERY. No customs for Greece.

    Thanks for the reply Trappy.
What power supply for the cam? Until now the cam had power through ezOSD.

As for the CORE, is it not needed at all or it is not necessary?
I would like to go on with just one shipment and order all the staff that is optional but not unusable.

    So, until now I have:
    Discovery frame
    Motor/ESC set
    TBS ezOSD
    TBS CORE (?)
    RF Tin Shield

    Go?

the core is optional, you may be better off saving the EzOSD for something else and using just the CORE, it will transform the correct voltages needed for the transmitter and the camera. the best power system for the quad is a 4S, you can't connect your camera to the EzOSD directly once you use a 4S !

Hi guys, since my Tbs project is stopped due to unexpected shipping delay of my Sony 600TVL, SC2000 for almost a month now ... I'm trying to take it to the next level for the electronics installation. unfortunately I dont have a TBS core, but my setup will be on 4S. The Sony cam and the Video tx both runs at 12v, i was thinking of using a UBEC 12v output to regulate for this two components, it should do the work? or any recommendations?!

UBEC needs LC filter! you can build one yourself or buy them from various FPV shops. TBS will stock a LC filter in a week or so.
