Help need with EzUHF and ImmersionRC 5.8Hgz

    I know

Another noob asking question already answer many times, I know ImersionRC guy and other must be tired answering this kind of question... but, it will be faster than reading or searching the entire forum for me...

I have many ImmersionRC gear, still, did not get the time to play with it that much til now, so, yesterday, I wanted to do a range test with this tri.

So, I put every thing on it, EzUHF RX lite, 5.8Ghz 600Mw vTx linked to fatshark dominator receiver, EzOSD to see the distance and the RSSI from the receiver.

I use those antennas on videon Rx/Tx
    http://www.readymaderc.com/store/ind...roducts_id=459

this one on the rx EzUHF lite
    http://www.nghobbies.com/cart/index....roducts_id=505

and this one on the EzUHF vTx.
    http://www.readymaderc.com/store/ind...roducts_id=185

the receiver is on top of the tri, and the vtx not that well placed on one arm.

So, did a LOS test first to see how the craft was flying, and damn it, the vTx antenna was not tight enough and fall... so, landed and make it more strong... so, it have work for about 1 minute without antennas. I know! Is that long enough to broke it?

But, my main problem is not that. Then, I put the goggle and fly away, never get that high because still scare of the reliability of the craft. so, I stay at about 25m over a corn field, so I was still at LOS.

At, about 350m, the RSSI was already at 77 and get an alarm in the OSD, I was expecting way more, so, there is something I don't do right! Also, I was seeing some interference in the video, those we see when we reach the edge of the vtx, I'm use to fpv and know the differences, but, for this one, the antenna fall may have broke it!

Still, my worry is on the EzUHF range? any idea? bad Antenna? I'm waiting some part to do some sander style antennas. Is is possible that the Tx is broken? Will order a new one ASAP if this is the case!

I use the Tx with a futaba 7c, and it still transmitting 2.4Ghz, is that can be a problem?

    Thanks in advance!

Another thing that I should say... I use std cable all along, turnigy plush 18A. no toroide, gopro camera! hmmm

And just realize that the tx may be too close of the FC I use and the gopro!

Can someone post me a picture of a good reliable spectrum analyse? I still don't know what is a good or bad result in the tools? please?

The antenna from nghobbies would make a goog paper weight if it was heaver and the antenna from readymaderc that you are using on the EZUHF tx is not much better. Make the sander style antenna at 164mm and use it on the rx. I have this one on my tx

I can fly my plane 4 miles out easy. On my video I have lawmate 1 watt with a 8db patch on the ground and stock 3db antenna on the plane.

    Ah great

thank for the reply, I have ordered that antennas already, and I wait for some part to build some sander style antennas!

I will do another test tomorrow if the weather is not too bad!

I also realize in the video on the top here
    http://fpvlab.com/forums/showthread....l-light./page3

that the RSSI at 70-80 seem to be still good enough... So, I will push it a bit more!

Kenny, here's what you need on you 8ch lite rx: http://fpvlab.com/forums/showthread....dipole-for-LRS

On the EzUHF tx, go with the Diamond SRH771 antenna.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoyed every minute of it

    @saucisse

    Thank

Already ordered the scallopking antennas, and already have many here, and plan to build some sanders style one... but I read those are better on diversity receiver, so, I will try to build one of those when I have time, and will wait to see with what I have for the Diamond SRH771...

So, all answer I have are about antennas choosing and placing them is quite a headache, mostly on small platform!

BTW, we will see each other on altitudeRC fun fly this summer

Kenny9999 The reason that I suggested those antennas, was because you plan to use them on a tricopter. With little mounting space on the tri frame in would be hard to mount a dipole that may get in the props. The sander style are stiff and easy to mount right on the EZUHF rx. The dipoles work great out on the wing tips of a plane because they can handle being on a length of coax. The sander style will only work mounted on the rx. I tried them once on a length of coax with low power the fail safe cut in at 2 mile.
The other antenna from Radioworld really is a good antenna and will be great for your copter setup because I can't see you flying your copter 4+ miles out and back. It is only 15" long, very light and flexable. It has the same specification as the Diamond at half the cost, and it is here in Canada, You should save on shipping too.
I have a question, do you really need a LRS system on a Copter?

    Hey scallopking

Sorry for the late response on this one, I'm quite busy these time!

I have change it, I flew on a F450 frame, first, I had the receiver near the gopro and the vTx the other side of the center plate, and did get around 350m, then, I have played with it a lot yesterday, with the spectrum analyzer to see if I can understand something from it and I've just switch vTx and receive place and did get about 850m yesterday.

I receive my HT-FPV yesterday, and, wow, great frame, and it have more place for good placement, I already have ordered your antenna. I will try to do some sander style antenna for the craft also, dipole barely fit on a quad...

Reason is... well, we can go pretty far with a quad, I plan a Y6 here that will be able to go to something like 3km, with a 8A bat that I already have, and to be honest, I want to compete a bit with my friend here! that have done 3.2 Km with it's Y6 on Sherrer stuff

Hey there, that looks like a good place to fly. Where I live, you have trees or saltwater to deal with. If you plan on going out over 3 km I would try to use a dipole. The ImmersionRC water boy himself said that the lite rx with one sander style antenna does not perform well and you should use a dipole. This one works really well

    http://www.webx.dk/rc/uhf-link3/mcx-antenna.htm

The length of the coax can be shorter. Swap the MXC plug with your SMA connector. I get my SMA's from here

If your still using the antennas from your first post in the video you won't believe the difference when you change then.

I just built a quadcopter last week using an APM board from DIYDrones. It is my first and I have never flown any kind of Chopper before so I am a long ways from flying one FPV.

Here is some pictures post number 574

Oh, that was not me... but one of my friend that leave into California... but, he have a great build and go far

When it come to multi-rotor, they don't have a lot of secret for me, I also have an APM1 but, actually, I work for the competition... but we are quite far. I work with the Aeroquad group. I have build and flown about all configuration. And I mostly do FPV on multirotor, my favorite platform is Y6, but, I get back to quad and tri now since they need less power and fly more longer. So, if I can help in any way!!!

I still have a ZII and EZ* waiting to be build, til now, never get too far, that what I aim now!

So, here is what I will go maden this afternoon

EzUHF diversity with sander style antenna (not sure about them since it's my first antenna build ever
    EzOSD
    Lawmate 1.2Ghz 1W

With the diversity receiver, I will see how it goes, But, will be real carefull with this build, love all the frame and build, probably my best build ever!

Finally did my maiden this afternoon, look like I did a good job on those antennas, reach 1.2km, did get an alarm, but... I believe I still had some room. Anyway, video was starting to have some trouble! but, I did not used my cloverleaf for that flight since I'm still not convince of the craft and those are fragile!!!
