    RMRC Recruit with PixFalcon (copy from my post in RCGroups)

    PixFalcon for Recruit

    Well, I was unhappy with the info provided and some of you know I trashed my first recruit on maiden.

    So lets just junk that rubbish stabiliser and go to what was going to be the end plan anyway. A PixFalcon from Holybro.

    Notes:

    • Copy below code to text file, save as "Recruit.param" and upload to Pixfalcon via Mission Planner
    • Confirm Servo throws and limits
    • Confirm Failsafe parameters work (<990 FS, 990-1000 Arm)
    • Arming is done by rudder right. Disarm by rudder left. There are no gyro, GPS or Barro prechecks
    • Flight modes are FBWA(smart stabilised) and Manual

    Final notes:
    Note 1 - Though not essential I use a slider for cruize. As a wing changes speed, either faster or slower it has an effect on the pitch. You have 2 ways to correct this. With the trims or as I prefer the RH slider on the Taranis. Depending on my speed I can slide it forward or back to change the trimmed pitch. This is different from the normal controller trims as they only move about 6-8%, where my slider moves up to 30%. In launch scenarios you throw the slider all the way and just throw the plane. The PixFalcon will maintain horizon level but will angle up slightly due to the trim.

    Nice build, I like the LED strips... makes it look like the glow from the motor. I haven't used the RH slider method before, aside for launching can you provide some details about how you use it during cruise?
    When nothing else out there will suit your needs... design and build it yourself.

    Not a problem.

    With wings i have found that the amount of trim required to hold pitch is largely dependent on speed. A slower speed needs more pitch and a faster speed needs less.

    With this in mind if you are constantly changing speed you will need to adjust the pitch trim switches often.

    To make this easy on myself i have the plane already basicaly trimmed for manual flight at say 70% throttle. So now i use rh slider as a modifier that adds or removes 30% pitch up or down. In effect it changes the trim faster and without reaching over the control sticks. Fingers always on controller both hands.

    Makes sense, I never really considered this though, as I tend to setup automated aircraft for specific missions, like survey or mapping, where I know the aircraft is efficient or I target a specific speed so that I get the appropriate image spacing.

    Even back when I was flying out long range I didn't consider this... but I also did it raw without a FC too.
