Building Harbor Freight Case Ground station...

...and I'd like suggestions for a decent, not too expensive, tripod.

Ground station will contain a 433 EzUHF Transmitter, a FrSky X8R, a 1.3GHz video receiver, a 5.8GHz video transmitter and the required antenna (whip for UHF, Biquad or MadMushroom for 1.3GHz), cabling, batteries and power distribution boards. No Display as of right now.

Would also appreciate suggestions on how to mount the case to the tripod.

    Thanks!

I use a speaker stand. Something like this, got used one at music store. Actually very stable, taller. They sell plastic pieces that go on top and are easy to cut, drill, etc.

I would recommend against putting your uhf tx in a case near your 1.2rx.
Most of the money I made this year I spent on FPV,the rest I just wasted.

Thanks gents. My thought was to mount selfie sticks on each side of the lid of the case and put the UHF TX on one side of the case and the 1.2RX on the other side. Think that's enough separation?

It really depends on the equipment used and the ranges. At short ranges you might not notice it. I keep my uhf on the back of my radio directly plugged in. I then have my vrx in a case with a 5.8 repeater so I can stand as far away as I want for separation. As with most things FPV and electronics there isn't always a magic formula but the less you complicated the better. Less points of failure, less latency etc.

I understand. Do you power your UHF module from the radio or via a separate battery pack? I've considered velcro'ing my UHF Tx to the back of the Taranis but it needs to be powered from a separate pack and I'm worried I'd dislodge the pack or the TX when I hand launch the plane...

I physically separate my video receiver and UHF control by a good 30ft

If you use a Lipo in your Taranis you could power the EZuhf box from the same battery.
