I think I bent the motor bell slightly on landing, cause now the motor runs a bit rough. The deep tail pushes the nose down a bit when landing.

solution: add a nose skid to keep the motor away from the ground. Can fab your own, or use an off the shelf wingtip skid from HK or other RC vendor as I did here.

You're making me want to build one. I also found a 1m DLG with similar weight, but the nose precut and a firewall to install a motor on!

    nice find!

I have been considering picking up that newer Hobbyking 3ch MIni DLG. This one would be good with a gyro to manage gustier turbulence than my 2ch dihedral DLG. The downside is that mine weighs right at 245g now, and the 3ch one would add at least 30g to that figure, unless I worked at weight reduction.

OTOH, I alsowould like to change mine to 1280/UHF as I think she'll be good for 5km+ runs our and back (even though I could eke it out with frsky and 5.8 I know)

What UHF do you use? I use an openlrs receiver that weighs 2.4g. If you dropped the Swift 2 and replaced it with a swift micro you could save ~6g. Idk what vtx you could use. The 3g 1.3 200mw ones are frankly terrible. But I recently opened a 12v 200mw and the circuit is almost identical.

If you only need 3 channels then the openlrs receiver can work and also output rssi. Add a micro minim osd and you're in business for some range!

    Edit:
Also the 1m one I found is the Malibu 1m dlg

I use TSLRS uhf, and have many of the receivers like NR600 - but they are bit large and likleymore like 10g-15g or so. RIght now I just have an Aomway 5g6 vtx on there with the SMA removed.

yeah the new RUncam micro will be super helpful for 250g builds! but will need separate OSD - makes the Runcam2 pretty weight efficient having built in OSD at ~13g

Tbs unify pro 5v + a ufl skew planar antenna could save the sma connector which is ~7g for both sides.

Micro minim osd is only 1.4g! So 7g for osd+ccd cam isn't bad at all.

How much does the aomway weigh?

not sure about the Aomway, Hobbyking says it weighs 6 grams. I then removed the sma and direct soldered an old TrueRCturbine 3 lope on there which is very light and skimpy. I like the MinimOSD idea too. I bought a couple but have not used them yet (cause Omnibus came out for quads)

I am running the 610mah Rhino 20c 3S lipo. That really upped the weight a lot from 2S! I also have some 450mah 3S I could use, 10-20 grams less (but 45C which is overkill)
