    Very Close Call

    Right,

Got my IBCrazy antenna kit and got it together. Of course I needed to test it so I went out for a flight. My LRS is still on itīs way so I used my 2.4Ghz and 1W wifi Booster.

Almost cost me my plane.. and my pants.

    Watch and weep.

P.S. Thanks trappy for your `when in the shit apply throtle and pull upī advice, I think that saved the day, but it sure was scary as hell.

Wow! That was real close to disaster
Yeah, Trappy's advice to go full throttle and yank/bank has saved my airplane several times; one time over a lake!
Glad to see you got her back though

Yeah, quite exciting indeed.... and as I was struggling to see through all the static where the hell I was going a car pulled up next to me with some very interested guys wanting to have a look.....

When I said "hold on a minute, I'm loosing her" they kindly drove off offering to look out for the plane! Friendly dudes indeed!

Glad as hell I got her back... I'll probably ground myself now until my LRS has arrived.

Looks like you had some external interference. Odd because the area is so rural. It looks vacant, but the control issue tells a whole different story. What antennas were you flying on the video?

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

Better yet, what 2.4GHz control system were you flying?

R/C gear: Futaba FASST 2.4 Ghz with full range receiver and 1W WiFi Booster on Tx

Video gear: 500mW lawmate 1.2 Ghz VTx at 1080 Mhz with standard rubber ducky. I have the inverted vee but that gave so much interference with my Rx (made the rudder and elevator do a full deflection) I chose to use the standard rubber ducky. I don't have a low pass filter on the VTx

VRx 1.2 Ghz Lawmate with IBCrazy fast patch kit.

Image was still perfect till I banked really hard during the blackout and the loss of altitude.

I thought the 1w booster would have given me more range but it might be the interference of the VTx because of me not having a low pass filter. Ah well, my LRS is on it's way so that will hopefully help to sort things out.

Yup, there's yer problem. I don't fly 1.2Ghz, but I have seen many comments on RCG that 1.2GHz harmonics cause problems with 2.4GHz control. Could also depend on your setup too. ie: how far away is the vid Tx located?

wow, I completely missed that thread. that was intense! very well reacted, kept it cool (at least on the controls) and brought her back in one piece. time to get a LRS!
