    Newb in Seattle

Hi all, I'm a recreational remote pilot and just today ordered my first FPV gear. I'm in the pacific northwest USA and really look forward to flying with video.

I've been a licensed ham for a little over a year because of my interest in public service and emergency preparedness, and it's fortunate that this newfound hobby also will benefit from my amateur license.

I ran across this forum during my research and it seems like a super friendly and information-rich community. I hope to learn a lot and share my adventures. Cheers,

    Mike

Welcome! We have lots of people flying around here, not much activity on the lab though

Hi, thanks for the welcome. I'm in north Seattle near Lake City.

I've learned about the airfield at Marymoor Park in Redmond. I'd be delighted to hear of any other areas besides local schools/fields.

60 acres is great when it's not crowded! Are you more of a fixed wing guy or a quadcopter guy?

Quadcopter. So far I've been flying a little Syma X11, but now I'm ready for FPV so I've upgraded to an ImmersionRC 285, still inbound.

There are a group of flyers that are often at Fircrest Shoreline, woodenville (the old golf course), 60 acres, Monroe and various other places I have not been too active with them recently, but plan to be a bit more active this year.

There are those of us on the Penninsula that fly over Hood Canal towards the Olympics - but I'm at work on a system that won't let me into any video sites - I'll try to remember to post video later, or just go to Vimeo and type "Scott Turchin" and go see my vids... (Kitsap area)
