Man its easy to stall up here at 6k feet. I had to switch to lower throws and mellow inputs . Drilled it in once with a massive tip stall and hit a tree after I turned my authority down and couldn't roll fast enough haha. She is fast as heck through. Definitely feel the efficiency of the airfoil. I really like the pitch stability. Much less little buffeting then I am used to.

Any good ways to repair a dented elevon? The nose is fine and all the fins stayed on...it was the fall out of the tree that got my elevon. my buddy recorded the down link. Might have some great crash footage.

Yes. I know my way around wood. Carefully peel the covering around the area. Spray a bit of water or just rub it in with a cloth on the damaged balsa, and use a covering iron to apply heat and pressure to get the shape back. Finish with a few drops of glue of your choice. I prefer white glue as it gets real nice when you cover it afterwards. Ca works great, but you will have to sand of the tops before covering.

some crashes from todays maiden. I'm going to have to do some adjustments to the throws and learn how to use this new weapon. I picked it up from that first pound into the ground and just had to reattach the servo rod clevis. I was impressed!

just weighted and I'm 44oz(1247.38gm) with the 2814,hitec 225, 5mil lam, heavy coat 3m90, 3300 4s, 60amp cobra ESC, and 50gm taped to the nose. That puts me 4oz over the recommended weight. What weight did you guys end up with that run the 2814? Right off the bat the 2814 makes you take on 40 extra grams in motor and that had me add 50gm of weight for balance. So 90gm of the 114gm im over is accounted for.

Also for forums knowledge I measured 52amps WOT on a fully charged 4S 3300, cobra 2814 1700kv APC 7x6 and also APC clone 7x6 @6k MSL Ecalc says 44amps

    Mine is 1241g.
    3300mah RMRC battery
    Cobra 2300kv
Blue series 60A esc (it stutters on low throttle. I will change to 60A Cobra wing series)
TGY-390DMH servos. 23g. These seems to be awesome btw.
VTX: fox 800 1,3ghz and singularity side feed antenna.
    DL standard receiver.
Spray glue (no name) 5 mill lam single layer lam and colored wing tape.
    6x5.5 APC
Tronski: Have you considered moving your esc up behind the battery for balance? It will save you from using dead weight.

I am at 4200', and mine doesn't stall bad. I have flown it at 8k, with no noticeable difference in performance.

It's gotta just be my throws then. I expected this to turn on a dime as a race plane so I set my throws like my other 44" wing. I may have to dial down pitch more and bring roll up a bit. Glad I'm in the same ballpark with weight. She's a heavy rig for the amount of wing area, but apparently very strong as I tested all to early haha.

I wish I could put my esc in the front bay but it's 33mm tall when set on edge and won't fit. I want the legend 3 I think and that should be 75gm with a case so I should be in the clear soon.

Just as a dummy check...My cg is 4.06" (4 and 1/16")from the back of the plane. Is that what you guys have as well? I measured twice before I chopped the nose off so it should be fine.

It really turns on a dime, but with very little throws.I use the top hole in the control horns and the second hole from center on the servos. From here I dial down the throws to exactly 10mm (matter of preference of course). Also the HC44 should be flown with quite high throttle because of the high wing loading. Especially through tight turns and vertical maneuvers.
My CG is 103mm or 4,06 inches from the back, so you are right on the money.

Thank you for checking that cg measurement. That big crash was the same holes as you but full servo throw. I just eye balled it to throw like my other two planes and I'd guess that's easily 20mm. Later flights I had TX reduced throws and that gave me the slow ass roll rate at slower speeds haha.

I have a bad habit of rolling and looping at full stick. With this thing I may have to stop doing that so I can have enough throw for launch and not too much throw for ludacris speed.
