Got this on my quad now.

MASHTON, I have a feeling I'll have wavy gravy too I did balance my motors and everything really well, but the iPhone is jello-tastic.

    EDIT: Jello-rama

Yeah I even put foam between the phone and the tri and got the same thing so I dunno. That almost made me sick to watch it. I am gonna rebalance my props and the motors and see if that has any effect. It is way to windy today to do anything with it though.

Edit: Just watched your vid. I wonder if it is the lens vibrating against the phone???? Or if the iphone is just that bad when it comes to vibrations.

That's a good experiment to try.

I have a 1/2in I foam under the phone too. I think the problem is the framerate of the iPhone. My GoPro in this same frame shows nearly zero jello. It could also be the iPhone focal length being a bit longer than the GoPro too.

If the wind lets up a little this afternoon I may strap it to the SuperCub and try it there.

Crap, Mashton have you tried to secure the Dot to the iPhone with some tape or something? I'm wondering if there is some play there?

We did figure out that there is a loose element in the iPhone's lens system that makes it lose focus when you flip the phone over. I wonder if that is part of our problem? Sucks too because except for the jello those videos look really cool!

I'm not surprised that the foam doesn't help much. Depending on the stiffness of the foam it's probably not going to do much for high frequency vibration. Neoprene phone might be an exception but it's not very common. Those little cradles that some autopilots (FY-20A for example) come with might be a better bet if you have one lying around.
