Thread: RangeVideo 1.3Ghz Vee Antenna.

  1. #11
Last weekend I tested both my early version of IBCrazy Vee tuned at 1360MHz and the later version RV-Vee and none of them were perfect but definitely good. Sadly I didn't document the values, dadde aka rcexplorer.se did the testing.

I did a 3 mile fight with RV Vee and RMRC 1.2 patch antenna.Video tx is a securitycamera2000 700mW 1.2 You can see signal degrade as I go further out.Its a bad video but just to give you an idea on performance.

It looks like you have some interference not just bad reception.

I have the same antenna with 400 mw on the plane and a Bi-Quad patch on the ground. I got 13 km with it.

The farthest my plane made it out was 1.3 miles before losing the video (800Mw 1280Mhz) all at once and the FrSky going into f/s immediately after. It was 900 ft up at the time. It didn't matter where i flew, was using the 8 Dbi patch and only flew out 1 mile with an antenna tracker.

Changed out the V antenna to a diy SPW antenna and a crosshair on the receiver and got perfect video between launch and the receive position at ground level - 2 miles away. Didn't seem to need the tracker since the video was fairly consistent.

So I cleaned up my interference problem(servos)and tried the same 3 mile flight.Vee antenna is mounted on the vertical stab and Im using the untuned RMRC 1.3 patch.Same setup as before minus the bad servos.Video is improved. The vee obviously performs loads better than the stock 3dBi omni. 3 mile mark at 7:51

So what servos should we avoid?

Here is a better video to show how well the RangeVideo 1.3 Vee performs.I took out my crappy SecurityCamera2000 700mW tx and put in my ReadyMadeRC 400mW tx.This video is with the stock length RangeVideo Vee which is tuned to 1270,a tuned 1280 patch from ReadyMadeRC, and their new 1.3 tx/rx on 1280 freq. 4 miles easy with solid video link. 4 mile mark is at 09:41. Great video on return as well. The Vee is mounted on the top portion of vertical stab on Sky Surfer facing forward. What a difference a quality video tx/rx and antenna's make
