    EPS specter

    I know I should be working on cutting more foam, but I couldn't help myself from building out an IBCrazy spectre from some of the EPS test cuts. Smoothed surfaces with lightweight spackle, and glassing with screen fiberglass and gorilla glue. It won't be as tough as the EPP version but it will be stiff, lightweight and fairly fast with a 300w 1500kv motor from my wrecked 50" wing.

    Glued cores, wooden spar and booms with Loctite foam safe silicone caulk;

    spackle top

    Aileron servo wiring

    spackle bottom

    Gorilla glue

    fiberglass screen (whole roll of it was only like $6 at hw store)

    easy hinge.

    I just finished my original Specter, and now you make me want another one. Cool - can't wait to see it fly!

    Thanks! On top that screen I will spackle it again, just to fill in the holes in the screen material, and then monokote it, I've got these nasty colors on the way:

    Mostly cause they were in stock

    Haha, my actual reason is that I don't want to cut EPP while watching my son because of the toxic fumes, so I find other stuff like this to do.

    When I apply laminate to EPS, I always use very small amounts of Loctite 200 (3M90) so that it doesn't eat the foam. I've never though about using gorilla glue. In your opinion, how did it turn out?

    Turned out great. Expands just enough to fill the voids in the screen, but not so much that it is unmanageable. If you take your time spreading it around and removing the excess then it works great. I think if I do this again though I will use polycrylic (Alex's suggestion).

    It turned out really stiff, I can hardly bend it with about 15 lbs of force, and the monokote will add some strength too.
