cabster101, that's a pretty good question. I haven't noticed it in FOV as we had tested the box in the USA (without the layerlens but the tab is not from the layerlens).
It doesn't show up at MED (127 degree), but I never tested it on WIDE. I don't think it will show up, if it does we'd need to adjust the design and the first few guys would need to shorten the tab using sanding paper. I'll test this as soon as I can, though, and we'll change the design if there's any issues. I'll get back to you ASAP.
Edit: Tim has just tested, it doesn't show up on 720p wide, which is the widest mode

Cabster101 is asking about the black Skids that are part of the Ritewing cam box, not the wooden tabs that are part of the TBS GoPro mount. That we did not test -- and you're basically combining two similar but unrelated products.

Right, sorry, I misunderstood that question. I have never used the skids. Since they are made out of cloro you can easily cut them, though, to fit the GoPro Wood mount. that would look pretty slick, actually. I may need to ask CK what he thinks of a custom version.
Also, keep in mind you can position the GoPro wood mount as far forward as you want to. If you're using the skids - which lean pretty far forward - you would have the GoPro mount lean a little forward as well. Basically you need to ensure that the skids and the front-most part of the GoPro mount are aligned. Then nothing will be in view.

Yes, I purchased the cam box for my Z2 but I haven't started the build. I was thinking this looks much more durable than the one from CK. I would love to use it with the skids. My only issue is where the gopro is. If it were on the other side of the box, like CK's cam box, the gopro lens would be right in the center and less likely to be in view of the skids. I will do some testing with my gopro and a skid. If I can get it out of the view I will definitely be buying.

If it works you can pay for it. Basically what you need to do is put the camera box a little further forward, then the skids should not be viewable.

no, never used skids and not using anything of that sorts. My Zephyr 1 (the first one ever built) has survived fine without skids for over 3 years now. So have all my other wings. And I'm not famous for treating my planes gently
The ZII especially doesn't need skids in my opinion, since it has a very nice underbelly made to elevate the center over the rest of the plane. the front part of the ZII, if left unmodified, needs protection and that's why the skids are there. If you're using the ZII Bay and plywood or standard gopro enclosure, the skids are not necessary. Again, all my opinion, YMMV, smoking may cause cancer during pregnancy and the cat is not supposed to be dried in the microwave.
