Thread: FUFAA Quad - The build under 250g!

  1. #21
Thats hilarious. I just recently built two Micros. An Atom122 and a Hellbender122. Both pushing 1306 3350kv motors, Kiss 18A ESC's with 2.4 control and 5.8 video though I have a micro 1.3 video to play with. I actually named them FUFAA-001 and FUFAA-002. Hahaha They both run off 4S and haul some serious ass. I'd like to see the FAA when I fly by them going 40mph in my 188g quads.

I was going to do a post with the two of them and start up an FUFAA-XXX registration group, but thought better of myself Love it!

Very cool! Smaller fpv quads like this will definitely become more and more common place. I too would like to know your flight time and range with this setup, although I know something like this isn't built for long range.

    FUFAA Quad

Flight time with this setup is about 5 min. of acro flying.

The range with this one is strong , solid RC link with Dragonlink UHF makes the range on this quad really as much as anyone would need.

On the video side a good receiver antenna can easily get you a couple of miles (line of sight) but the limited capacity of the battery (1000 mha) is really the limiting factor here.

The quad flies like a dream.

So if I'm following this thread right...you've built a badass quad and coined a new class of multirotors. FUFAA class: under 250 grams. Awesome

Here is my Hellbender (FUFAA-002) (AUW=188grams):

    -HellBender122 Frame
    -ParagonUAV 1306 3350kv motors
    -Kiss 18A ESC's
    -ParagonUAV 4S 450mah Lipos
    -Naze32 Acro Rev 5
    -D4RII using PPM
    -SurveilZone 600TVL CC1563 Cam (120* view angle)
    -HobbyKing Turnigy VTX250-LTE
    -RotorX 3040Tri Props

Here is my Atom122 (FUFAA-001) - It's waiting on some parts but is the primo build of the two. I also got a bum motor, so it's waiting on a replacement.

    -RotorX Atom122 Frame
-Atom PDB with optional MicroMinimOSD drop in (I have two, but haven't set them up yet)
    -ParagonUAV 1306 3350kv motors
    -Kiss 18A ESC's
    -ParagonUAV 4S 450mah Lipos
-Lumenier Lux FC (Still Waiting on this)
    -FrSky XSR Rx (Running SBus)
    -Pico Cam V2 - ~90* FOV
    -HobbyKing Turnigy VTX250-LTE or 1.3Ghz Mini200mw Vtx
    -RotorX 3040Tri Props

Last summer I ran 3 quads; 4" MicroThug, 5" Blackout and 6" BlackOut. I wasn't super happy with the 4" on 3S so I dropped the 1806 2300kv motors and tossed on some Cobra 2204 1960kv motors but couldn't find a good small 4S pack. Overall I was under-impressed with the 4" so I went smaller. This summer I'm running two Micro's running 3" props and two larger Aliens running 5 and 6" props. The Micro's are so far a huge win in my book. They won't replace my slightly larger guys but they are a blast so far. Some of the Atom guys are also working on pushing 2S and 3S micro's on some very high kv 11xx sized motors. Might be fun to look into, but for now 4S pushing the 1306 3350kv motors has lots of power.

btw, how do you like that 4in1 esc? I haven't seen it before.
I like it OK, not that great since I have not figured a way to program the escs. Good for weight saving though, and the quad flies great with stock setup.
