Zee....make sure you have the guardian turned OFF the first time you fly it.

If you have never used stabilization, it will freak you out at first, making it seem like you have little input on the sticks. IE: full left aileron wont make the plane roll.

    I always do the following:

    1. maiden flight: guardian off, launch, trim, land.
    2. go through ET setup again and redo all controls. (this resets level flight positions, which would have changed if you trimmed it)
    3. launch, using a dial, slowly turn gain up on guardian, while displaying servo deflections. Make note of where your gain is when you have it turned up and its high enough for good flight, but low enough that your dont get osculation. land.
    4. Go into guardian setup and set max gain to noted level.
    5. profit.

Zee, are you using PPM into the OSD Pro?

Maybe the OSD Throttle output is not quite all the way OFF...hence, the ESC is not arming? Or similarly, maybe the OSD is reversing the command?

that may be the case. A quick run through the radio setup again will correct that.

Yeah It'll be switched off for the first flight... don't want any surprises.

    Yes I'm using PPM

To add to my problem - just tried with another ESC and motor, and that worked fine. But there's no problem with my ESC since it works from any other port.... there's something about the kontronik and the eagle tree that isn't playing nice. I'll try re-running the servo setup.

No dice, just re-ran the servo setup twice and still no worky. Can't be reversing the signal since it doesn't arm at full throttle and my other ESC works fine.

Can't wrap my head around it... the only explanation I can think of is that the full travel isn't being output, so as above the esc never sees a zero throttle. I'm going to bed since I have an early flight tomorrow, but I can try resetting the ESC endpoints using the output from the osd pro rather than from the rx direct which is how it has previously been programmed.

Do you have an oscilloscope? You will likely figure things out when you can see the signals rather than inferring them through shotgunning parts. I think we all REALLY want you to fix this NOW so we can see it fly a lot of vicarious living going on through this thread.

    Nope, no oscilloscope.

I live very near CERN, I imagine they must have one lol. Tomorrow I'll try resetting throttle end points using the OSD Pro output, but I'm not sure how since the ESC doesn't even beep when connected to that output.... enough thinking for tonight, I'm off to bed!

EDIT - ok just quickly plugged it in - can't even seem to program the ESC from that output... it's literally as though it doesn't exist to the kontronik.

stupid question...but does that esc have a built in bec? are you possibly bypassing power to it somehow?

Can your esc be recalibrated to your throttle travel endpoints? If its not quite hitting zero, recalibrating the esc to the throttle travel available may fix it.
Far better is it to dare mighty things, even though checkered by failure; than to take rank with those who neither enjoy much or suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.
