The Xiaomi Yi camera is really great when it comes to value, but it lacks in quality of video. This is mostly not a hardware issue, it is a firmware issue. The Xiaomi supports "scripts" that can modify the firmware, to unlock it's full potential, yet in a safe way with no risk of breaking the camera. So I have written 1 single script to rule them all from an fpv'ers perspective. It includes the following:
*Bitrate of up to 35MB/s
*GoPro Superview like stretching (increased FOV)
*Files now have a maximum of 4GB instead of 2GB.
*2 second beep confirms the script is loaded
*More detail in shadows/highlights
*GoPro Protune "Flat" colour option
+More being added every new version.
Example Video (Superview V8.2 Manual Script, @35Mb/s, Colour editing in post):
*This does not permanently modify the camera. When you remove the file, it goes back to normal.
*Some cards will split footage with superview, as it puts extra strain on the card. You can lower the bitrate or you might need to buy a faster card.
*Manual Superview may not work on 22L cameras, Auto is fine.
Recommended card: SanDisk Extreme 32GB
*I (did) run the SanDisk Ultra 64GB flawlessly on 20Mb/s bitrate
*I currently run the SanDisk Extreme 32GB on 35Mb/s bitrate (much higher quality)
Make sure you have firmware 1.2.13. Update here if you haven't already: http://www.xiaoyi.com/update/sports
