A better FC would help too.
    Bummer man, my new FPV purposed Tricopter is even smaller then this one! Size doesnt really effect the smoothness really, its all about tuning. Smaller you go the higher gains you have to use.

    Yesterday the weather was perfect, sunny with a flew fluffy clouds... Spent half the day flying!

    I got tired of being bumped around but was too lazy to build a new frame and move everything over, besides I would've spent the rest of the day indoors! So I removed the 2213n's and installed 3 new DT700's. They're a bit heavier which adds some inertia and have more thrust and LOTS of torque! I'm rocking 12" props on it! On the thrust stand 11x4.7's give 32oz thrust at 13amps, which is the max amps the motors are rated for... BUT, at a hovering thrust level the 12" props are more efficient, and the DT700's have SO much torque they can handle it. I set the throttle upper limit to 65% to avoid overamping as at full throttle they'll make 38oz thrust at 17amps! 38oz x 3 = 114oz, and it only weighs 30 ounces AUW, so its a rocket at full throttle anyhow... at 65% I've still got 74oz thrust which is pretty healthy.

    Anyways, its rock solid now. No oscillations, no rocking, no wobbles... even when a big gust of wind came by I only noticed it through my jacket. Flight time got cut down to 14 minutes. I'm flying it with the aileron/elevator's at 30% end point and 30% expo and its as smooth as my 18" arm tricopter. At 100% rates its hard to control but will do rolls and flips dizzy fast! I'll have to take some pictures of it tonight, with 17" motor to motor spacing, and 12" props, its ALL props at this point. There's barely any room for my antennas now. Doing more proximity flying now, cruising between trees 2 feet off the deck, between garages, buildings, down walkways... fun stuff.

    Chatch, yes I'm stuck on 910mhz at the moment so the antennas are fricken huge! Funny thing, you can tell how bad, or good vibrations are by watching the vtx antenna! Will upgrade to 1280mhz later this summer I think.

    Is there a way to increase the rotational rates of KK boards? I want it to rotate very fast to small stick inputs. I have added in some positive expo, but it still feels mushy on the sticks. It's tuned properly...so that's not a problem. Just wanting something that is quick to react. Is there a way to increase that rate? I am using 1.6FW on a blackboard.

    Nope, you can only adjust your Exp, rates, and end points through your TX.

    So, if I reduce my endpoints, and add in more positive expo, increase the rates past 100%, do you think that could help me get where I wanna be with this?

    Yeah, on yaw for almost all my birds. I have my rates up to like 125% and my expo to like 50. Spins like a dime, I used to have the same issue as you. If your still unhappy then mess with your end points and you will be golden.

    I don't think so. Not without knowing how to rewrite your own kk firmware. On my Turnigy 9x I can set the End Points to 120% and in the Expo menu I also have something called Dir... I don't know what it stands for but it works just like end points, so if I set it to 100% then I'm at the maximum pitch/roll rates possible and flips/rolls are possible (but at higher altitude). I would think more expo would = more mushy. 0% expo would give very linear responses and for me, would be uncontrollable. With my end points at 100% and Dir at 30% I could take the expo down to 10% and it'd be pretty smooth. For quick maneuvering having an insane thrust/weight ratio helps too... with the DT700's even though I have throttle endpoint set at 65% when I command a full right roll for example, the kk board will throttle up the left more to 100% and um... overamp the motor by 5amps for maybe a second or two.

    ok on the kk board

    endpoint = roll rate

    NEVER use expo or any of that garbage. i use linear input. for FPV i use 40% rates(linear) and for normal flying i use 100% rates. flash firmware XCopter 4.7 aggressive with the kkmulticopter flash tool. it has 4x rotation rate (1280º per second) so if you set your endpoints to 50% you will spin around about twice a second.

    as for me, i use 140% endpoints(448º per second) on the 2.5 minsoo firmware. or it is 120%. i cant remember but whatever the max is on futaba 7CAP.

    Thanks. I'll work out the endpoints. I was just tooling around with d/r and expo...I added in like 70% expo, but if you recommend just using the endpoints, I;ll play with that until I get it feeling nice.

    BTW, is there an agressive tricopter hex? i didn't see one...just using 1.6.
