    Ground FPV

What is the best freq for ground FPV? I'm looking into both 900mhz and 1.3ghz. 900 seems technically the best but I've heard that 1.3ghz has a better quality connection.

Also, what is the best way to eliminate servo glitching on 27 and 72mhz?

I've got an old Tamiya S-10 that I've made a custom chassis for and I wanna put a camera on it!

Actually, I just got my old Tamiya Grasshopper back up and running, and would LOVE to tool around the cul-de-sac I live on. With the 540J motor on it I get going about 20mph. Not brushless-level fast, but pretty speedy nonetheless, and a good speed for filming.

Since I don't have any FPV equipment yet I'm going to focus on just getting a nice smooth-filming mount system that will record watchable video at top speed on the asphalt. I'll share some of the results once I have some. I figure that anything I come up with could have cross-platform use.

Sweet. I've got a Tamiya Falcon that I FPV'd a few years back...

I've got a GoPro mount for it now, but haven't taken it out to play yet.

Actually, Being a Tamiya-Nut from way back when, a Grasshopper with a 540 is a home-made Hornet. I think it was a 380 vs. a 540 motor, and maybe a difference in the shocks???? We're going back, what, to 1986 or so?

I think the only difference between the Hornet and the Grasshopper was the top shell, the stock motor, and the rear tires. Otherwise they were the same. Interestingly, the tub base for the Grasshopper was re-used in almost all of the Tamiya buggys made back in the '80's. (hornet, grasshopper, frog, rising fighter)

I still have my Hornet, with full bearings, 20+ year old Aristocraft ESC, and an AstroFlight motor in my shop..... with some spare parts. Guess I ought to pull it out some day.

Yeah, that's a blast from the past, all those old Tamiya buggy's. I even still have the original box my Falcon came in!! Of course, just about every single part on the car has been replaced though.. multiple times!! lol

Sweet videos, stang and aaron! I've seen those Summit vids before, that's what inspired me to dust off my truck. It's got a 16t pinion, 45 turn crawler motor w aluminum mount, locked diffs, ball bearings, and of course the steel chassis which gives it much more clearance. It's got some Losi tires and I upgraded to Hummer suspension and driveshafts to try and get a wider stance.

I had a winch on it before which was just a servo modified to spin continuously with a toggle switch on the tx, perfect for panning the camera. No tilt, but that's not such a big deal.

Right now it's crazy glitchy, I tried it out with my 5.8ghz gear but my pan servo started spinning slowly whenever I got more than 100 ft or so, undrivable. My steering glitched too and reverse made it go crazy. I tried it in my apartment but just driving to the other room caused the same glitchy servos and stuttering reverse. I'm using a Traxxas 27mhz 3 channel tx and rx and I thought these had great range?

I've also got a couple nitros to strap the gear on once I get it sorted
