Not to piss on the parade here... this thread says 143mm.... There are 2 threads from Sander at the other place that say 153mm and 164mm.... Which is is?

Can someone please confirm the correct 433mhz antenna lenght... 10mm off could be a game changer.
Thyere is some conflicting ibformation in 2 threads about the same thing by the same author...simple mistake but one that can influence performance.

Now we need to cut the wire to length, so it is tuned to 433MHz, this is accomplished by cutting the wire to 164 mm length *exactly*, measured from where the right angle SMA male connector ends. This is illustrated below in Fig 3. and Fig 4.

The correct length is 164mm, one-six-four millimeter, I edited this, and other posts, to reflect this.

Wow - I have been flying the other plane with 164mm... not the greatest performance but was good in the high 60's low 70's at 2.5 miles.

Well, YMMV, I've built quite a few of these and it matters what nyrod/pvc tubing you use for the antennas. Initially I used antenna tubes used for RC cars, those resulted in the 164mm length, then I started using PVC pushrod sheeting left over from Multiplex kits (Ez, etc.) which resulted in 153mm length. Now I'm using nyrod, as that's pretty much available the world over and that results in 143mm. So unless you have a spectrum analyzer with VSWR bridge you won't get it exactly spot on, but in most cases 143mm will be close enough. The reason for the differences is because the plastic tubing acts as a dielectric and it changes the resonance frequency of the antenna. If you want to get the best performance I would build one with 180mm length and connect to the EzUHF (disconnect the other antenna) set things up in a fixed position at the field and clip away with a cutter (per mm) untill RSSI reads highest, that'll then be the optimum for the materials you used.

The URL is invalid, and I can't seem to find that post.

Bit off topic here, but have no clue where to post it.
Question for his Sassy Majesty or Trapster.
I have this GS from John (hauntme13 on RC Groups)and one of the light (amber) on one Cat6 port is off all the time. what do I have to check on the board.
Checked all points on the board for cold solder and all are good.
I know its not your cup of tee but as a masters :-) there is no one else ( John evaporated into space) I can turn to.
    Thx in advance

This is such a legendary antenna manual, it should be on fpvmanuals... oh wait, it's there already!

If you built Sander style antennas, post a pic!

I'd be happy to help, but I'm not familiar with the inner workings of that equipment I'm afraid.
