You wanna see my what?!!Oh... my OSD
A buddy of mine is in a dilema and I was wondering if there is something he can do to fix things. We flew at a new spot and his 910 Mhz equipment didn't do good at all. Mine was fine on 1280 Mhz though. We had an antenna tower with 920-930 Mhz on it about 1 mile from us. He thinks that tower is probably giving him problems. It was wierd because his dipole was doing better than his patch, but both were bad compared to what he normally sees.
Is there a way to put a filter on his receivers that would help block the unwanted stuff. If so what type of filter is needed?
Thanks for any thoughts on how to fix this.
If I had to guess, you had the patch aimed at or near the antenna tower, right? Remeber that antennas listen to everything on their band, not just your airplane. Thus, the patch was pulling in more of that cell tower signal.
The ONLY realistic option is to change frequencies. The only good way to get around a high noise floor is to choose a different frequency. A VTX/RX is cheap. Like $100 or less.

Hello Alex
quick question
Can I successfully use a 3dbi omni on my 300mW or 600mW vtx (on my quadcopter) with a bluebeam or cloverleaf on my vrx? will the linear play nice with the CP?
very kind regards
justin
Justin,
You can do this but you will suffer a 3dbi loss in signal. For the best results you must use CP on both ends. Use a Cloverleaf on the vtx and an SPW on the vrx.
FYI Blubeam is Alex's trademark for the CL/SPW Set.
Marc
cool cool, thanks Marc
Still, would using an SPW on the vrx be better than a 3dbi omni? (if sticking with an omni on the quad) ?
I just can't afford to have such a fragile (and large) antenna on my machine with the way I fly (crash)..I am trying to make my quad smaller =]

In small areas surrounded by objects such as where you like to fly, having CP on both ends is extremely advantageous. Your video will be much clearer due to the ability to reject multipath interference.
I have the tutorials available on RCG. I would highly recommend reading them and building a few of your own if you are concerned about damage. Once you are able to build them yourself, you can keep one or two as a spare. You can always go back to the whips, but once you go CP, you will never go back to linear.
