What a clean solder job. Probably takes a steady hand on the soldering tip, something that is a challenge for my shaky hands. Just had to say I like the work you did. If I can find the old binder nylon rods to use as standoffs, I like to think that would work good for 2.4 and 5.8 kits.

But most of all RULE 117: "You can't free a fish from water."

I was going to have them made, but ended-up being too time consuming to be economically viable.

I use a cut 4" PVC fence post. Works great

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

Alex, i'm trying to figure out how to measure wire lengths properly so i can reproduce this antenna with good SWR for a friend... So, quick question: Where's the right point to measure the leg's wire length exactly ? I've just spent all day trying to get under 1.6 SWR without success... Please see picture for info (i actually use method A) Thanks a lot !

It is the over all length of the wire. Don't over think it. Good SWR on this antenna is 1.6 to 1.3 that is what it was designed for. Anything else without knowing a few other tweeks (still only gets it to about 1.2:1) is asking to kill the circularity and axial ratio. You are still ~95% efficient and that ain't bad, in fact it is considered very good when building an antenna. Anything 2:1 (which is ~89% efficient) or better is considered good so as you see it is still a good build.

Note that the frequency response curve of this antennas is shaped like a "W". Circularity happen in the center of the "W" and therefore not at best SWR.
When tuning these, I take a different approach. I check if both dipoles broadcast the same amount of power.

Hey just wanted to make a quick post to say how successful my IBCrazy crosshairs (1280mhz) were over the weekend. I had rock solid, no static or anything, out about 2000ft and with some crazy maneuvering too...sorry no FPV video, I'm still figuring out the stupid DVR.
