^ Yes that works. It just needs to be metallic, that's all.

@RCLAB - Not ground plane dependant. Put it wherever you want.

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

Any reason that the flat plate could not be double sided pcb with 1 ounce copper? I'm going to build a 5.8 antenna.

    Thanks for another great antenna.

You could use a PCB panel, no problem. Making this for 5.8GHz is going to be next to impossible to get correct.

Have mine for 2.4 almost complete and can't wait to try it!! I had a little trouble finding .017 wire with the only wire that size I found so far being pure copper. Would it really throw things off if I were to move to .037 Mig welding wire which is almost twice the size the calculations call for? Probably better just using the copper wire that is spec.
Also, I might have missed this in your description but would you consider this a directional antenna with an average angle of coverage? by the looks of the picture I'd guess it's a pure Omni, but since I'm so new to this I thought I'd go ahead and ask.... Thank Alex!!

Nice work, Hugo! Looks great (better than mine, actually). Any word on the covers?

Yes it would, actually. This antenna is very fickle (just ask Mashton). If you can find .023" welding wire or .025" welding wire, this works well for 2.4GHz.

DO NOT CHANGE ANY MEASUREMENT FROM THE TUTORIAL!!!!!! I cannot express this enough. A simple stray strand from the shield on the coax will throw of this antenna by almost a 10th on your SWR. These need to be within 1/1000th of an inch or it will have horrible SWR and if you are not careful you can ruin the circularity as well. Take your time and use what is in the tutorial for wire size (this is not a suggestion Alex came up with it is a must). I have built a couple of these and I will tell you as Alex has said they are very fickle and nowhere near as forgiving as his other designs (especially the cloverleaf).

Yeah I broke it. But I have Duck tape so its ok.

    Thx Alex,
The material is in stock, forming should begin this week-end, better late than never.
