    Range Video 5.8Ghz FPV Equipment

I have found some equipment from Range Video that I can't seem to find any reviews for (see links below). I found the reviews on range video, but I am looking for some objective 3rd party reviews. Does anyone here use this equipment? What do you think? Any words of wisdom? Is the price to good to expect some quality? What do you use?

I think Tim at RMRC used to sell that transmiter and had quality issues with them (I think was why) so he discontinued them. I will try and see where he stated this and post the quote in a minute. As for the Receiver I don't use it but a lot of guys do so I am sure they will chime in on it.

I've gone through a bunch of these, never had one fail except for crashing. There's a guy on ebay selling them or you can get them through fpvhobby.com. They rock IMO, just as good performance as my "fullsize" 200mw Foxtech vtx and great picture quality. I think Tim's moving away from this line because of frequency selection and reliability problems with the 500mw version. The 200mw versions work awesome, many of us are using them all over.

I wouldn't use these modules for anything other than micro/mini models where you need to save the weight, they're very fragile.

    VitaminJ,

Can you post a link to the one you use?

I use the same receiver and I'm guessing that vTX is just the basic version of what I've got.

Very happy with it, with a cloverleaf/skew planar I've gone to 1.7km and the picture is still extremely good, doesn't seem to show signs of snowing out even. Makes me feel like I could go twice that distance but I'll slowly push it out

    Here you go Derrick:

This one is a new design made by someone on RCG I believe, looks tougher and easier to use:

Here's what it comes down to:

You can use the Sky RF based 200mW system and have an excellent sensitive RX but not so great VTX

    Or

You can use an Airwave based system (FatShark) and have a mediocre RX and good VTX

Apparently Sander has been doing some meddling with the Airwave RX module and has increased sensitivity so we might be seeing an improvement soon.

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

    Alex,

Thank you for the reply, I don't suppose you can mix and match getting the best of both worlds? I watched your videos on frequency selection, I like the low noise floor of 5.8Ghz but like the range of 900mhz but don't like the size of their antennas. So I settled on 1.3 Ghz system but I also fly with a 2.4Ghz it seems that I am getting some interference do you have any recommendations? Here is a link to the post describing my setup a little more.
