    FPV signal problems......Help!

    Hello,

I recently bought this FPV set, and i have always had trouble getting the signal to work efficiently.
I've read the manual, and fully understand what to do.

    1. Find a clear channel on the RX
    2. Turn on the TX and program to the corresponding channel.
    3. Avoid the dead zone on the aerial points.

Now not once have a found a solid picture, it always has a line across it, that was a livable..... I then tried to set my Blackstalk II OSD, with no success, so i reverted to the basic CCD cam on its own. However i now cannot get a single channel to connect too!. The best i have had was when ic ould see maybe 8% of an image, but i had to stand head tilted 1 m away from the TX!. I've even tried to sort this out on the field miles away from any electro magnetic fields, aerials ect ect ....

(I found out a black cable came loose from my CCD cam, and the connecter was damaged, i replaced and rewired it. However one of the cables was raw wire wrapped all around the other cables, maybe i have wired this incorrectly somehow)

Any help whatsoever is hugely appreciated.....

    Thanks

    p.s - I run a 2.4 Ghz system for my model....

If I had to guess, you have a floating ground. Cut the cable about 2" back from the camera and replace the bulky black cable with twisted servo wire. That is nice and light weight and will eliminate the thought of a broken wire.

I tried that, it hasnt worked. The most frustrating part is that when im very close to the tx the signal and video quality is very good, but soon as i move a slight part away i loose signal.....

Thanks for the advice, it eliminates one possible issue

It could be a damaged VTX. Do you have any other cameras, transmitters or recievers you could try?

Vitamin J, i just tried it and the results are identicle. Its as if the antenna is doing nothing...

SENTRY, i dont fully understand what you mean, what is the RCA (I'm a begginer). If its the wiring, then explain in detail and i can take a shot at it

Unfortuantly no .... given that the camera does show a clear image at close range tells me it is more likely the Tx, but this hasnt even been properly used in actually flight. I cant see how it is damaged. Its frustrating that it seems the only way to find a way to fix it is to buy expensive parts that i might not need ....

If i do choose to buy a new TX, what would you personally recomend, range is of course a huge priority, i am running 5.8 ghz

    Thanks!

Did you ever power the vtx without an antenna?

Swap the RCAs around on your display device - ignoring the colors.

Dont worry, as i said it made no difference .... But you have made me think of something .... I used to get a (fairly) decent signal when i used my provided power pack (7.4 v). Then i attempted to wire up my OSD (blackstalk II). Once i did this i connected my 11.1v 2.2 Amp power (the gliders main power). I later read about changing the volatge on the VTX. i just noticed a clip that allows voltage change (5v - standered, then you can change to EXT as it says). I did not change this prior to connecting the 11.1v..... Maybe i have shorted something ?.

Noooo I'm sorry I didn't want you to do that! If you power the tx without an antenna sometimes this will damage it and reduce range. Sounds like it was already damaged though, either that or you are on a channel very close but not totally correct.
