EzUHF powered by 2S Using Step-Up Power Regulator?

I have an EzUHF that I'm going to be using on my Spektrum DX8. Since my DX8 only has a 2S 4000mAh 7.4V battery, and the EzUHF requires 9-12V, can I use a step-up power regulator to supply 12V??? I'm thinking about using one because I do not want to have to add another lipo to the back of the Tx. It's already heavy enough with the EzUHF. Looking at this step-up regulator.... http://www.readymaderc.com/store/ind...roducts_id=316

Would this be a good idea?????

No, you need a stepup with more output current capability.

hey darkside. I did something similar wit the stock spketrum battery here (bottom of the post: )
    http://fpvlab.com/forums/showthread....ull=1#post9354

The first few weeks it seemed to work great... but it didn't last.

The problem in my case are:

    - the step-up will drain the battery a very tiny amount all the time... so I have to keep my DX8 on the charger all the time.

    - The DX8 battery will degrade quiclky... at first I could do a whole 40 minute flight, and even use high power for moments on the EzUHF without problems. After a few flights, the DX8 would start beeping with a dead battery alarm if I ever put the EzUHF in high power mode, then a few flights later I'm not even able to recharge the DX8 battery to the 5.5V full...

So now I'm back to using a 3S lipo. and I need to replace my DX8 battery too.

But if you find a higher quality step-up than I did, and you already have a better battery... you'll be fine.

    Found another one... http://www.goodluckbuy.com/lm2577-dc...module-3a.html
If it drains power when off I could put an ON/OFF switch on the + side of the battery.

sorry to dig up an old thread... but were you ever successful with this? I'm in the same boat you are, and its a hassle to have to carry another battery on the radio.
