Buy a base Zephyr Kit with all your things needed to fly then choose 5.8, 900, or 1.3.

Hi Fleix, I used 2.4GHz remote control with 5.8GHz video for about 2 weeks... You'll outgrow it as soon as you loose a model. It was a painful lesson for me personally. You'll save time, money, and frustration in the long run getting an EzUHF or similar. 5.8GHz video is limited in range too... it can't penetrate through even a single big tree. 1.3GHz or 2.4GHz for video and 433MHz or 35 / 72MHz for control are worth considering earlier than later.

FPV is "largely" a solo sport. I have a feeling that if you're asking the questions that you are asking - your "friends" have not educated you yet. Do they fly fpv? I'm afraid that you may be setting yourself up for an expensive crash.

You came on here saying you want to buy a Ritewing Zephyr, then you ask where to get it. Try starting with RITEWING. I think you need to do more research before you purchase anything though - doesn't seem that you have done that at all.

I speak german and I m in contact with him thru pm.

Basicly he wants to make movies of his friends airplanes. They fly big sailers to small elektroplanes, it seems that he has a great expirience in rc flying. So one point is off the list.

Then because he wants to fly after his friends, how all have 2.4ghz rc link, means they wont go further away than 500 - 1000m. I know, he could develop the will to go further away, ones he has tasted blood, but for now I think a 5.8ghz with 200mw would be enough.

Allthough I m not that expierince in 5.8ghz, I need to read more about it to help him properly. And some advice from you guys would also be helpfull

Ego - please make sure he is on the right track - there is lots to learn before he starts chasing other people's rigs and other rf sources sharing the same field.

    Will do, sentry!

My approach would be, he should get a IRC 5.8ghz TX/RX (rubber ducky/ rubber ducky or patch antenna) and a cam, he should test that on the ground while others try to see if its affect their RC planes. Then he checks picture while others flying (still on the ground). Then while he flyings LOS with the tx/cam sticked to his plane (simpel setup), someone should check the picture of the video and report it back here, to help him judge it.

I would recommend a simpel monitor if he has one or one of his friends. If not, then we net to see how mutch he wants to go for FPV and if its worth it to buy a fpv goggle yet.

The 5.8Ghz 200mw RC305 setup works really well.

On stock rubber antenna's I easily flew out to 1000m but image quality wasn't so great at times. I now have a Skew Planar/Clover antenna's set and it's much better.

I also fly 2.4 RC with that system no problems. You will be told that 2.4 for RC is a really bad idea. My opinion is that it's fine as long as you understand the limitations don't overstep the boundaries.

2.4 is a tried and tested control system, big sail plane guys go to 1000meters with a good system. If you stay higher up and don't do shit like fly behind treeline or behind objects then you have a good chance of being just fine. Use the same rules you would when flying normally.

I should add that in my larger plane I have a 35mhz control because I want to go beyond what the 2.4 will give. If that is an option for you then why not. I have kept the 2.4 in my smaller fun plane.

5.8ghz works well. The 305 is a good little kit and with a SPW and cloverleaf he can get 1km pretty easy. Homebuild them as they can get that range.

The one thing I know how to do well with FPV - crash. All in a day of fun!
