Cool 110" Blunt nose Scratch built Wing "Gynormika"

    Hi all,

after toying around with this idea for a while I decided to take on this project as we do not get much flying time here in Toronto due to the cold cold cold, did I say cold weather!!!

A friend cut the wing ribs for me, he upscaled a set of ribs he had cut before
the air foil I guess is similar to a Zephyr, I am not copying it just wanted to give you an idea.

after we had the ribs cut and polished we had to build a new wire cuter to accommodate the extra length of each wing half stretching to a whopping 56" per wing
after removing some of the foam for the sweep it goes down to 48"
and then we added the middle section 16"
I got some 3" by 24" by 96" EPS foam from Home Depot $20 per sheet
I decided to power the wing with 2 motors and got 2 G10-1200kv from HK
along with 2 60A Turnigy ESCs
for battery power I haven't decided yet, I will probably maiden it on my 4S 3300 but I think I will have 2x 4S 5000's or bigger, we'll see.

here are some pictures for now, these are just the first steps but I am hoping to have it finished within a month or so.

Sanded both sides of the wing smooth, just to remove some small imperfections from the wire cutter
I remembered I had a little bullet sander in the garage and it took me 10 minutes to sand the entire wing both top and bottom! haha loved it
it even collected most of the dust in the little bag so cleaning after that was easy breezy beautiful cover girl

No I am waiting for my epoxy to warm up since it was in the car over night so I can join the wing halves and then insert the main spars

ok so thanks to my lovely wife who took the kids to Grandma, I had lots of spare time...

    1. Joined the wings together
    2. cut the 2 channels for the main spars 1" deep
    3. Glued the main spars in place
    4. Cut the back to shape and measured motor location based on prop size

we used a bit TOO much Gorilla Glue and basically finished a small bottle of it, now i'm all out of glue again and need to get more for the next step gluing the wing spars

Cut wing spar channels, now off to home depot to get more glue

I modified the copper wire to cut a shallower channel and made a test cut on scrap foam

    Perfect fit!
