I am volunteer fire fighter at my local brigade, one of the other members is a fire investigator, and interest has been expressed in the possibility of assisting in deterring the causes of fires paticularly in large warehouses which may still be partially standing. Also very useful as previously mentioned for looking for flare ups and hot spots for scrub fire fighting. I'm also looking at making myself available for assisting in serious crash investigations or light air craft crash investigation as well as search and rescue.. There is also potential for power pylon planned maintenance surveying and real estate photography. Along with coverage of small community events. I am currently emailing a guy who is involved with working with NZ CAA about creating a recognised syllabus for a nationally recognised UAV Pilots licence. which will be interesting.

Lil guys like blade nano's can be used to effectively get those cob webs in those high vaulted ceilings. ^_^
Not a huge use, but a positive one none the less.
    Live Slow - Fly FAST!

    FPV does NOT fly ASAP.

    Positive reason to use:
Obtain the data/photo/video from the areas which are not accessible after hurricane, flood etc.
It might seem as a norm but in caribbean its a challenge when sth hits the island...
So support for the local disaster Commitee is a must

There is huge money in multirotor "UAV" development for perimeter patrol of game reserves in South Africa. Poachers will have nowhere to hide!

Better use a plane for that, those can fly longer
But yes, they are already actively used in Africa.

This is really a very good topic. I'm sure that there are plenty of positive ways to use PFV. The key is to require experienced and careful flyers to fly them.
