Finally got around to flying it alongside my GoPro - video is a little long, but light conditions were changing with the setting sun and I managed to get some flying close to ground shots for comparison too.

Glenstr, doubt you could get a better comparison than that, enjoyed it.
General consensus from this household was the Stealth colors looked more natural so that was preferred.
Is that a frozen over lake you were flying over ?? if so lucky for you when the motor cut out - did you find the cause.
Cheers and Thanks.

[QUOTE=Lifter;75617] Thanks
The GoPro seems to have their color kind of preset to some sort of "vivid" settings, I get the same comments about the comparisons with the Contour. I like the Contours smaller FOV at times though, but I think that the Drift does do a better job on the colors.
Yes the lake is frozen, when we get the warmer spring days it's a real nice time to fly because I have this HUGE expansive "field" right at my doorstep to test range etc. Haven't found the cause of my sudden motor stopping yet, I replayed the flight from my ET datalogger last night, it said my lowest voltage was 9.85, but when I watched the data I didn't see it go below 11 volts. So I don't think it was the battery, unless it was just because it was so cold - the plane had been in the back of my truck the last few nights and we had sub zero temps, and I think these lipo batteries don't like the real cold.
I'm wondering if it could be the BEC, I have a UBEC that I bought in case I want to run a 4S battery, maybe I should just put it on. Not sure how to check and see if it's the built in BEC or not.
We are still able to drive on the lake, probably safe yet for a couple of more weeks, longer if nighttime temps stay cold, altogether I've probably got 5-6 weeks yet I can safely use is as a big "field". Most years there is a lot of snow on it, but it gets wind hardened and is hard enough to walk / take off / land on, but this year we've had little snow so the ice is more or less clear, which is real nice. Hope to get some night flying done on it yet if we get some windless moonlit nights.

Hello Keith,
I would be interested to know which Keychain cameras version you are using ?
After readings, it seems we can find 808 #3 , #11 and #16 (which are quite expensive)
I don't need AV out
Could you please give me it's URL , so I can order it ?
Comments or suggestions from others on these keychains cameras are welcome :-)
Regards,
JC
from my understanding it's how the image is sampled.
Imagine drawing a picture one line at a time (CMOS). By the time you get back to scanning the top line the image has shifted a bit because of vibration and it's different than the line directly below it so you get a "rolling" or "jello" effect.
Now imagine drawing a picture by drawing the entire frame one at a time (CCD). It's not as efficient but the image frame doesn't get separated by a "split" drawing. What you end up with is each frame is off from vibration but the pixels within it are NOT off relative to each other so it shifts together but doesn't roll or jello by separating.
CMOS samples one line at a time while,
CCD samples the whole frame one at a time.
result: You can't deshake jello very well because the software can't tell that it's split/damaged on some random horizontal line. You can deshake/stabilize CCD frames easily because all the software has to do is line up the images like playing cards not repair each frame. phew..

JC I used to buy and sell the #3 keychain from e-b-a-y vendors. When they work, they are super. You will discover that the e-b-a-y- chinese vendors will claim #3 in their ads but its a hit and miss so I always ordered several of them from different vendors (Expect to pay 13+bucks each). The video quality is quite good but the file sizes are pretty huge. Expect 1gig file for 20 minutes. The included data cable is junk so throw it away and get one from the dollar store. I use class 6 micro sd 8g. Only thing that I would highly suggest is to get a fisheye lens for it because the field of view is so narrow. A good camera is an awesome bargain, but expect to get some junky ones. Even at that, its worth it to me.

These cameras are very light and I highly recommend them despite the usual Chinese quality control issues.
Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.
