    Zephyr II Build

Okay! I can now add myself onto the list of people who are building a ZII.

I previously had a HobbyKing EPP-FPV.. but that didn't go so well. *sigh*

I still have all the electronics, though, which are:

    DragonLink UHF
    Dragon OSD
    -Current sensor
    -GPS
    -USB adapter
    -ArduIMU V3

    Sony WDR600

    Lawmate 1.2ghz 1000mw transmitter w/ 6dBi Omni

    Lawmate 1.2ghz reciever w/ 8dBi patch

    600w E-Flite Power 25 870kv motor
    11x6 sport prop

    60A E-Flite ESC

    2 5000mAh 4S batteries (gonna switch for 3300's at Chris's advice)

    10A Castle BEC

3.5A Buck-Boost PSU (turned 1.6-36v into perfect 12, and was programmable from 3-30)

    Some small 12v fans

...I think that's it. All the servo's died in the crash.

The parts I want to get for the ZII are:

2x HS-5645mg (Have them already, will they work?)

    2x Zippy 4s 3300mAh LiPo

    Go Pro HD Hero

Video Goggles ... of some kind. I really don't know which ones to get. Preferably near 200 dollars.

I have the money set aside for the new additions, I just don't know what to get. Help?

I'll put pictures up as I build the plane.. once I get it, that is. :P

Fans? SHEESH - where are you flying to? The moon? I'd seriously rethink this one. But good luck - we'll help ya as much as we can.

Since when did the DOSD have support for the ArduIMU v3? (I have one sitting on my desk waiting for the arduino code....)

    ssassen,
I dunno, this amount of gear seems to be what most people put in ZII's.

Haha. I wish. There are two fans, one was for the ESC, and one was for the video TX. There were major airflow issues in the EPP-FPV how I had it set up, and also, if I stopped flying, the video TX would overheat. So I liked to know that even if I crashed, the video TX wouldn't catch the foam on fire, as it got damn hot without cooling.. lol I don't think I'll be using the fans this time.

I didn't think so either, but I contacted John Lee, and asked if the V3 worked. He said he made an adapter, and sent one for testing. So according to him, that uart to i2c adapter should allow the v3 to play nice with the dosd. We'll see when it gets here.

Vent the bays that have heat issue problems, that motor has a very low kv,even on 4s .

What do you recommend? And I know that it does produce a LOT of thrust, so.. will it work? Or should I hunt for another motor?

I would take Chris's advice and just vent the bays, when I heard you were using fans I honestly thought you were crazy XD

Lol I've thought about that. :P

Anyway, yeah yeah, crazy, I know. They were tiny fans, remember. lol. And if I cut enough of a vent hole to cool the vid transmitter, the plane would have fell apart even more then it already did. lol
