    IC for 3.5Ghz video link?

I stumbled across this IC on Maxim-IC's site while looking for something else. Wondering if it could be used to make a 3.5Ghz Video link that we have been wanting. Chip is only about $9 one off at DigiKey. Not sure how to interface baseband video into baseband I-Q inputs. Anyone with spare time on their hands??

Looks like a 0dBm output and no IF. Evaluation kit shows a reference drawing on the PDF data sheet.

I've been looking at this is a well, ever since IBCrazy mentioned that band. There are a few more components needed though. I have some of the engineers where I work looking at it though.

As soon as you have I & Q inputs the modulation goes digital.

Btw, a standard VTX can be used as an RF frontend for 3.5GHz. The fundamental TX frequency needs to be changed to get the second harmonic at 3.5GHz.
Then a good bandpass filter, followed by a second gain stage and final low pass filter will do the job.

I kind of figured that. A/D conversion would add too much lag time to the video.

I had thought of this too. Wasn't sure how successful I would be using a lower quality Chinese VTX as a start. My thinking was to take the PA section out to get the signal back to 0 dBm. Grab the 2nd harmonic then filter and re-amplify it. Still comes down to lack of time on my end. That's why I like he RF modules . I've played a bit with Flytron's openLRS using the RFM22b module. Keep looking for one similar for 3.5Ghz.

Stumbled on this very old thread since more and more people are crowding 1.3. Any progress on 3.5? Whoever comes out with a line of video transmitters on the 3.5 GHz band with several channels available will make a lot of money!

I am working on it... I *might* be getting somewhere on this project, but it's quite difficult...

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.
